It is a very huge jail with too many history left behind. Awesome place to walk around and learn more about history. Evenings, there will be light show which is the story of the cellular jail before and after freedom. People who like theatre would find light show interesting. This is one of the major site seeing place here. Do visit and follow the instructions!
Excellent experience to know how freedom fighters raised voice against British people. Had always read in books about it, got a chance to visit and gain knowledge about the kala paani jail. Everyone in their life must have read or listen to the story of kala paani.Infact there were plenty of facts which where brought to light during the light & sound show. All in all when visiting port blair , andaman its a must to visit historical place. The government has put in a lot of efforts to restore this historical site. The ticket charged for entry is just rs 30/- which is totally worth it. The light and sound show costed rs 200/- per person.

One of the must visit place in Port Blair. This is really a very Huge Jail and it really narrates the heart touching story of the velour of our Freedom Fighters. We could really feel how much pain they bear to have the Freedom of our Nation. The cells shouts and tries to tell you about the sacrifices they made and cruelty they felt in there. It's really huge jail but the Cell was really very small having no window only the iron rods. There are some articles/statues in display to show more ways of brutality of British Govt. Now this place is kept very clean and full of greenary. Minimal entry fees. You can get a guide too if want to know detailed history of each and every story / statue .
Its a very historic place whereas the booking system of lightshow should be organized well
