Hotel Saravana Bhavan - South Indian restaurant in Chennai - Chennai, India

A fast serving family restaurant, which was well patronised at 9 AM. The mini meal had masala dosa, 6 button idlisambar, very nice upmarket, halwa, vada, coconut chutney, and green chutney. Wash rooms are outside and are very basic. Food is good.

I recently dined at HDB and had an enjoyable experience overall. The restaurant had a traditional and heritage vibe, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient, and the staff seemed knowledgeable about the menu, making helpful suggestions. Moving on to the food, it was delicious and well-prepared. I tried their "Kall Dosa and Idli, vada" it was very tasty. The portion size was average, and the dish was served hot and fresh. One minor issue was that some dishes on the menu were priced on the higher side, which affected my overall impression. While the quality of the food was great, the prices made it a bit less appealing.

I had been there to this place for lunch today. This place was crowded when I went there and we had to wait for sometime to get seated. They have good parking space for this restaurant. We ordered meals and special meals together. There was no much difference between these meals but the price was on the higher side for Tamilnadu special meals. The taste was not up to the mark when compared with the premium price they charge. Customer service was kind of okay because they had lesser people to look after the big crowd they get during the lunch time. Overall from the food perspective I was little bit disappointed.

Saravana Bhavan is a South Indian restaurant chain that is popular for its vegetarian food. The Alandur branch is located near the airport and it is a convenient place to stop for a meal if you are travelling. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and it is served quickly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good South Indian meal.

Number of staff are less. Long waiting for the customers. Food quality is not that good. Dhosa were very crispy like apalam (papad).

Saravana Bhavan lost its sheen and taste of quality and cleanliness. The brand name still made me give it a try. Need to revive back to its classic era.

Whether you're staying at an airport hotel or just passing through and wanting a meal before checking in, this place is fantastic - the staff will look after you and the food is excellent. They also offer Indian desserts, and these are delicious :)
