Was there biking the loop. Return when the work on the Lasker Rink/Swimming Pool redo is done. It will likely be wonderful as that's the goal. Now its a disaster zone.

It took us a while to find it, it's kind of hidden, but it was worth the wait! Totally recommend when in central park.

Some of the stones in the middle of the arch seem to be held aloft through sheer friction. There's not much of an angled compressive support for those. I am probably missing something in terms of the forces applied, but it is very intriguing at first glance.

Absolutely beautiful location. One of my favorite parts of central park.

Imagine the time it took to make this arch without the benefit of modern tools. Impressive!

Make sure to check out the warefall just behind the arch

Small masonry bridge that crosses a stream and is pretty. Nothing special but it does into the first surroundings. Fun fact: the stream it crosses, like all the water features of the park is fed by the NYC public water company.

No mortor, awesome work, glad we found it along with it's 2 little waterfalls
