Taragarh Fort - Featured Reviews (1684)
Taragarh Fort or Star Fort is situated in the city of Ajmer in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is a massive fort in Bundi and built at a height of 500 meters on a hill by Rao Singh Bar in the 13th century under the reign of King Ajaypal Chauhan.
A place which gives a historic view of bundi city, i request to the government of rajasthan to support taragrh fort in increasing tourism towards it as it also has an historic moments of Rajasthan. A view of bundi is immense in the rainy season from top of the jharokha of taragrh fort.
note it closes at 5pm s be on time.
Good to see. But Bad road or pathway .not maintained well. Now the surrounding is a forest.
It's an amazing historical fort from where you can get a good view of the city, however it is ill maintained. The city of Bundi has a lot potential to develop as a tourist destination but the government is not interested to bring Bundi on the tourist map of India.
Historically
It is a massive fort in Bundi and built at a height of 500 meters on a hill by Rao Singh Bar in the 13th century under the reign of King Ajaypal Chauhan. Built in 1354 AD, although the fort is now in a ramshackle state, the Taragarh Fort still remains one of the most impressive forts in Rajasthan. It is built on a steep hill and now is overgrown by vegetation.
Unlike most forts in Rajasthan which are made of Sandstone the Taragarh Fort is made of serpentine stone which is green in colour. It remains one of the few forts in Rajasthan which does not show influences of Mughal style of art and architecture.
The Bundi Fort or the Tara Garh is a beautiful fort set in the upper portion of the valley. Fort was built in 1345 AD and thereafter many additions and alterations were made. It has a massive Gate called Hathipol through which king could easily enter while sitting on an elephant.
Inside it has several palaces, Chitrashala -a museum of Rajasthani paintings on Krishna and
Radha in various moods.
Entry by ticket. Guide available.
Tough to reach to the top because of height and heat in summer season. Water bottle is must.
Evening illumination makes it more attractive and can be seen from Jaipur-Kota highway NH 52.
Taragarh palace is a heart of bundi. You can visit here anytime. Personally i don't like it as precious things inside it can't be protected and renew time to time. Ticket Price is not value for money.
A one time visit place. Although build thoughtfully, there is no attractions like the other forts of same era. Most of the art work is damaged.
There is q lack of basic amenities like water and toilets in the fort.
Approach road is narrow and difficult for four wheelers.
Really nice place to visit if you're fond of visiting the monuments.
This fort is made for exploring the ancient architect.
You have be ready for climbing up to the top as its way higher than you think but yes, view from top is literally mesmerizing.
Get handy water bottle(s) to stay hydrated.
Fort gets opened by 0800 IST.
What a beautiful palace overlooking the entire (almost) city of Bundi
It's not very busy unlike some of the other forts and palaces in Rajasthan and I guess that makes it unique.
You have to pay an entry fees to see this beauty (don't remember how much I paid but it was somewhere around Rs 80. Foreigners is Rs 500 I guess)
The fort is kept clean (most of it) and had multiple floors or levels. Be prepared to hike up and take stairs to see the entire place.
You can be a little adventurous and go to the fort boundary which is another 2 kms walk from the main palace. But trust me, it's worth it,. The view is majestic from the top.
Fort had ample parking space outside and u will also find cafes and restaurants that will serve you good food and beverage (even chilled beer )
Must visit when staying in Bundi.
