Santragachi Junction - Train station in Howrah - Howrah, India

There is a need for massive improvement as it lacks basic facilities. Also, the trains running from here either run late or they are rescheduled frequently. If you are generally punctual then commuting from here is not for you.

Most of thing of this station is perfectly fine except few area which I think should improve like cleanliness and colour(doesn't only mean floor cleaning like track cleaning, there should be vibrant colour and disign ) although it was under construction but not the whole station was. Second, proper announcement and train timming board. In my experience one train arrived without announcement, it was the yellow board which shows where this train is going.

Near to Howrah, Santragachi is the first junction station in South Eastern Railway route, and is an important one too. It also has a massive carshed which houses all the off scheduled cars. The work to makeover this junction into a terminal is already in place.

Santragachi Junction railway station (station code: SRC) is a railway station in south Eastern Railway Zone of Indian Railways, situated in Santragachhi, Howrah, India. It is one of the six intercity railway stations serving Howrah and Kolkata. The station is operated by Indian Railways South Eastern Railway (SER) zone. SER serves local trains to Amta, Mecheda, Panskura, Haldia, Kharagpur and Medinipur and mail/express trains to Central, West and South India.

It is one of the important junctions to catch long distance trains as well as locals. The worst part is , it doesn't have any escalator or sloping surface to carry heavy luggage. If you don't want to park your car only for dropping, even in those cases you have to pay a parking charge of 71/-

Santragachi Junction is one of the most important railway junction of South Eastern Railway. All the local, MEMU, Express train from the source station of Howrah Junction and Shalimar Railway station passes through this station. Now Indian Railway is improving this station to decrease the overload pressure of Howrah Junction and it is getting futuristic appearance.

Footover bridge big size. Vary rush during office hours. Local emu dmu express super first train stoppage. Bus auto available any time. Need more cleaning and maintenance seats arrangement.

It is the next junction after Howrah station in the south eastern railway. U will found every train for the most of the cities from here except eastern railway directly. Station facilities are okey but ticking system could be better. Food shops are fair. U will also found bus to go Kolkata or howrah or for South eastern region.
