Urban folk tales are better with the guide. Peaceful inside. A small trail of 20 mins. Guide is mandatory as they said and it costs Rs350. Entry fee Rs50 per person

Absolutely must visit place. Fortunately we were the first person to enter the forest at 9 AM. In the morning you'll have to hire a guide at the entry which is much-needed. The guide takes us to the walk, explaining each and every aspect to the forest. It will be mesmerising to hear how the matriarchal society in Meghalaya is completely different from patriarchal society of the rest of the India. The special requirement of this forest is that you cannot take anything out of this forest, even a dried leaf. Locals believe that it's a bad Demon to take anything out of the sacred forest. While you just go only 250 to 300 m into the forest, you'll be amazed, looking at the dense and weather change immediately. Don't forget to ask the guide to take pictures. These people are very much experienced in taking perfect pictures with awesome creativity We had breakfast near the parking area, a small breakfast counter which has very limited food but very tasty

A beautiful forest, holding high religious standards for the community around. The forest is dense and thick as we wander inside, however, we are allowed only up to a certain point. One can see holy sacrificial sites inside, where long-back sacrifices were performed. It's said when sacrifices are carried out, they shouldn't come back the same way through which they have entered. The area outside is more beautiful with open grounds and if you are lucky enough you might spot local bands performing too. WARNING: One shouldn't carry back anything from inside the forest, or else bad luck will befall them.

You should definitely take a guide during your visit There are restrooms and Maggi , tea available to eat . All tourists eat there. The guide converse in English. The climate gets colders as time goes. It would be so interesting to know the history of the sacred forest. You are asked not to take anything from the forest as it would bring you bad sign. Guide cost is 350 and entry parking costs around 150.

A beautiful place , local guide is compulsory to walk inside the forest is what they claim ,but it's not really required. But my local guide was very friendly and took some really good pictures. It's okey to take a guide as its the only source of income for the locals .

If you are from city and rarely been to forests/jungles then this is the place you can visit to get a first hand idea about how a forest feels like. No dangerous animals are there according to our guide. It is called sacred forest because the ancestors of the local tribe used to offer prayers and perform rituals inside this forest. You will find some some centuries old monoliths, rudraksh trees. You cannot bring anything from this forest, that is against the beliefs of the local tribe. You are not allowed to visit the entire forest. Only a small portion of the sacred forest is open to visitors. Guides are good.

It's amazing. Actually we have to learn from them how to save a forest.

It's a small forest with an amazing grassland beside it making it an ideal picnic venue. The forest is sacred for the locals, who take pains to preserve it in its pristine state. You can only enter the forest with a guide and cannot take anything away from it. Traditional sacrifices in the days gone by were apparently conducted here. There is a toilet nearby on pay & use basis. Worth a visit.
