Public Astronomical Observatory Goa - Observatory in Panaji - North Goa, India

IMPORTANT: This place is only open from Nov to May. Visit only during those months. Even if Google shows this place as open in other months, it's not.

Must visit place for visitors. Astronomy enthusiastic locals like me, you will be in love with this place. AFA has 9 centres in Goa. I have been here for more than 4 years. Also has a summer camp for kids every summer.

With the new renovation this place is better than ever. Open 7-9 in the evenings on weekdays and Saturday this place is awesome for learning about the sky. The museum is also marvellous and you can spend hours in there just read about everything there's to learn. Definitely recommended specially if the moon and other planets are visible in the sky that night

A very good observatory managed by the Astrokids of AFA. A must visit destination for a cosmic-curious person, if he is in and around Panjim.

It was an amazing experience. Not much of the stars or for that matter galaxies were visible... But the look at the moon was excellent. The people (guides) were very knowledgeable and good at explaining things. A must visit place specially from January to May.

'Brilliant' to summarize in one word. Enjoyed by my two kids aged 12 and 6 very much. Even me and my wife was refreshed with lot of knowledge. Simply outstanding... A must visit... If you have even a little interest in stars ...... And our evolution.

Well as per my consideration it is a very great place to improve your astronomical knowledge and to have a close view of space. Despite I was the only visitor there, I met this gentleman named Aron and few other members of this institute. From my perspective Aron was a very good host, he setup the telescope and showed me the Moon, Mars, Star Constellations and other celestial objects in a very decent manner. Unfortunately some of the telescope equipments was not available so I couldn't explore more. But I hope you folks would be lucky.

Was there for some time and was amazed with what little bundles had learned and how proficient they were with telescope. Kids had lot learnt and professor there was very knowledgeable. Equipment was basic but that's not limiting the kids enthusiasm. My daughter enjoyed.
