Kupup (Elephant) Lake has been named by its shape. This is one of the sightseeing place you can visit on the way to Nathula after visiting Old Baba Mandir.
High mountain region provides picturesque view. A little far away down the road a natural lake resembling an elephant is visible. There is a tea stall available near by. Kupup village can be seen far away. The road is proceeded towards Nathu La pass and ultimately reached at indo-tibetan border.
Very solitary and peaceful sight seeing spot of East Sikkim located in Nathula. Seeing of Indo China border gives us goosebumps.
This is a wonderful place with a lovely view of the elephant lake. The altitude of this place is 13,500 feet. The lake freezes during winter days. Snow clad mountains are a sight to behold. You find peace and tranquility here and the view is real treat for your eyes and soul. There are tall mountains surrounding the lake and they are mostly covered in snow during winters. One can tour the whole area by an SUV but this route is not open during winter season.
The amazing view of the lake will make you feel that nothing could be more peaceful and serene on earth. You just could not stop admiring this wonderful lake. The lake nestles at an altitude of 13,660 ft, on the way to Jelepla Pass, bordering area with China and India. The magnificent Chomolhari Mountain stands at the backdrop of the lake, offering a visual splendour.

A beautiful lake enroute Gangtok via Tukla Valley. You'll love the views. Such a peaceful place amidst all the serene nature. PS: this is not Menmecho/Memencho Lake. That lake is further north enroute. DO CHECK. That place is worth stopping, too. Beautiful.
It's a natural lake located at an altitude of 14000 ft in the Himalayas. From this view point Kupup village in the valley next to lake is nicely visible. Snow clad mountains are also nicely visible in a clear day even in May. The view point is located right on the road. The lake become frozen during winter days. It's a nice tourist attraction.
