Black Baza Coffee Co. - Featured Reviews (89)
Roasted on 7th July and order received on 15th July. That's pathetic.
Order Loris Dark Roast but i can see beans are medium to light roasted. In dark roast oil can be seen lightly extracted in beans. But here i see dryness and very light color roasting. No way this can be called dark roasted.
Also they have mentioned chocolate and caramel notes but i get more of a citrusy taste.
Tried their whistling schoolboy to brew in the South Indian filter. Delivery was within 4-5 days as they roast twice a week. The coffee smelled great initially, however after a few days it lost its flavour. That was the only negative thing in my opinion.
If you don't like coffee, definitely not your fault, you were probably not introduced to a great coffee house like Black Baza Coffee. Trust me, if I may say so, this is one of the better coffee brands out there. Totally loved the aroma and flavours. Kudos to team black baza for such a wonderful coffee experience and a big thumbs-up for their intiative of supporting the entire forest eco-systems while doing a wonderful coffee business at the same time. God Bless the entire team.
After trying out various brands available online, finally Blackbaza has been my goto Coffee for last year or two. I generally like to buy beans instead of ground coffee. It is very easy to distinguish between different varieties available unlike the mix and match you tend to get online. Generally prefer to buy pure Arabica and every time I order, I get one of each variety. Some have been my real favorites and Black Baza's microlot varieties never stop surprising with the amazing aroma and taste. The delivery is very quick generally. And finally, I really support the founder's initiative to help farmers grow the coffee in their natural forest habitats. Thank you.
Tried their otter and wanderoo roasts. Both coffees are equal if not below mediocre in quality. Packaging is very poor. The packaging does not have any zipper or one-way valve which causes the coffee to go stale inside the packaging itself when it is not opened. With quality giants like Blue Tokai these roasters don't stand anywhere near specialty coffee.
This used to be one of my favorite coffee brands. In the beginning days, the aroma, freshness, the subtle and refined flavors were consistent irrespective of the coffee varieties I had from black baza. I'm not sure what sort of quality they might have nowadays. I had stopped buying coffee from them for a while as it wasn't up to the mark, but this time thought to try it again and made my purchase but the flavor and freshness are still lacking in the recently purchased coffee. I would rate poor for their customer service be it mails or on their fb page but had no reply.
They have some of the best and unique flavours. I highly recommend it. Very few speciality coffees that are mindful of their impact on the biodiversity and welfare of the grower community.
I'm in a phase where I'm exploring different coffees and trying to find the sweet spot. Few weeks back stumbled upon BlackBaza website and bought their mission immediately. I really loved their concept. I ordered Wanderloo Medium roast whole beans. The shipments was delivered to Mumbai within 4 days and I was very excited to try my new coffee. However, overall experience has been underwhelming so far.
Positives:
- The coffee came in 3 layed packaging (card-board box, followed by a paper bag and a plastic bag).
- They claim that all their packaging material is biodegradable (Thumps-up to the team). Hopefully plastic bag is included.
- Field note was really thoughful. Would have liked it more if the card was in a better condition. (maybe inside an envelope).
Negatives:
- Flavour notecard and other small piece of cards felt kind of unnecessary
- No one-way breathing valve on the coffe bag. (As per my understanding it is necessary to prevent air from getting at the roasted coffee while letting the coffee release the carbon dioxide). To my surprice coffee was packed in a plastic bag insde the paper bag.
- The paper bag sealed with glue, so once you open it there's no way to seal it back. You will have to transfer your coffee to a canister. I like to keep my coffee in the original packaging. Both the coffee brands I have tried so far (Dope and toffee coffee roaster) comes with re-sealable bags and a one way breathing valve. I really love packaging of toffee coffe roaster. It is simple, yet very practical.
- The biggest let down was the aroma. I'm a big fan of aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. Everytime I open a new bag, I can not stop myself from brewing one cup immediately and savour it. However, unlike my previous purchases (from other brands) I was devoid of that joy this time. Aroma was practically non-existent. So I just transferred coffee to my old bag. Will brew one cup tomorrow.
I know this is too soon to judge. I'll update my review based on the flavours of the coffee in few days.
