Pretty decent spot. The trails I've been on have all been flat for those who have trouble with mobility. Beautiful trails and place to camp out and barbecue.

Always enjoy visiting William O'Brien State Park along the St. Croix River on scenic MN-95. A great visitor center with valuable park information and ample parking. Wonderful place to hike, camp, picnic, canoe/kayak, swim and fish with beautiful views. Nice park office, gift shop, and camper cabins too. Something for everyone with easy access Lake Alice...and only an hour's drive from the Twin Cities. Check it out!

Wonderful visitor center with ample parking (three parking lots). Clean bathroom and everything is wheelchair accessible. The inside has a learning room for kids. This space has models, toys, and lots of information about the park. The view is great as well so I snapped a few pics of the grass. The indoors also includes a seating area with helpful maps and information about the trails around the park. No stairs to get into the building.

We took advantage of a couple warm days in early November. Stayed 1 night here in a camper cabin. Our first camper cabin experience -and it was great. The cabin had two sets of twin over full bunks and a table with benches inside. We had brought soccer chairs and set them in the screen porch as it was a very windy evening. In the morning we hiked the Riverside Trail great trail-saw quite a bit of wildlife. Nice, easy trail with lots of benches and interpretive signs.

My favorite park in MN because I am a prairie girl at heart. Great amount of trails that are always well maintained. Haven’t camped here yet, but have walked they the area and they seem to have many great options. I also enjoy the great variety of trails and elevation changes. Easy to access and only a small drive from the cities makes it an easy day trip if you want, or a great weekend trip if you want to camp.

Such a fabulous park with nicely maintained, wide trails. There's a main loop that goes around most of the park ("hiking club" 5.3 miles), and it has numerous attached outskirt loops to customize your trek. The map shows mileage for each individual leg, so you can plot distances accordingly. The railroad tracks and arch tunnel are my favorite spots for photos. If you have T-mobile service, expect zero to negligible phone reception. (For me this impacts streaming music for my jog. I need to download music in advance or just enjoy nature.) Most trails are flat and probably 60%+ is shaded. There are some hills and gradual inclines on the south and southwest side of the park. No stairs. Trail terrain varies from mowed grass to dirt with small boulders. Definitely wear close-toed shoes, as these trails have natural debris and easily kick up dirt, etc. I prefer my trail boots for the varied terrain, but cross trainer running shoes work too. (My calves and shoes always get a notable dusting from a jog. I'd avoid white shoes here.) Besides camping areas, there are no trash containers along the way. If you're dog walking, plan accordingly for poo bags.
