The Kahala Hotel & Resort - Resort hotel in Honolulu - 5000 Kahala Ave, USA

The location is great. In a nice neighborhood which feels removed from Waikiki and is great for a morning run to Diamond head or a long walk on the extended beach. The only good part of the hotel is the breakfast buffet, which is wonderful. Lots of papaya and a great omelette bar. The rest of the hotel needs a complete renovation. The rooms are beyond dated. Chipped paint, the carpets smell and are stained, the walls are thin and the noise between rooms is noticeable. We asked for help from the concierge making a dinner reservation and they acted uninterested and were less helpful than yelp. This was once an amazing hotel, with great service and stately hotel rooms. It is now still a great location, but clearly the new owners have not invested into keeping this a premier property. You are better at the four seasons with updated rooms and technology, and much better service.

Located on the south side of Diamond Head in a quiet residential area and on a nice beach. Dolphin Quest is located here - in lagoons on the property. Fun watching the dolphins; can also pay to interact with them. The rooms are beautiful with great ocean views (with the right room). Service is outstanding. Restaurants are very good.

You can’t always go back in time in a GOOD way. But my husband and I did! Periodically over the years we have stayed at this resort and have NEVER been disappointed. She’s a “grand ole lady.” We love looking at the hall of pictures of famous guests from around the world.|| The location - between the ocean and the golf course is unmatched. Eating meals are relaxing looking at the water, There are 5 restaurants & an English Tea on the veranda. The grounds include a pool and a wonderful clean beach to enjoy. Kids will enjoy a “dolphin quest” and other kid activities.||We can’t wait to return. Everything at the hotel has been updated and kept up with the times while keeping the great old ambiance.

The room we had when we arrived did not meet our expectations. I went to the front desk to express my concerns and Carolyn moved us to a different room, which was really nice! This is an awesome property with a very welcoming staff. It is odd to have full size vs queen size beds; there is plenty of room for queen size without the oversized night stand between beds. The hotel must have a reason; it’s just something I’ve never seen. Carolyn really saved the day!

This resort is absolutely beautiful, with all the luxuries of a five star property. We only spent one night here before heading up to the North Shore, but it was a great start to our baby moon trip. ||Some highlights: |+ the beach area was stunning, with plenty of chairs for people to sit and calm water to swim in |+ the pool was small but never too crowded, so we had no problem finding a place to sit |+ our room viewed the golf course, which was really fun as the sony open was going on ||Some things to note:|+ the dolphin enclosure is tiny and made me really sad to see. There’s three dolphins in the small pool, and it feels like the resort cares more about making money off the dolphins than giving them a good environment to live in. I won’t be returning based on the dolphin enclosure |+ the rooms are a little dated. We didn’t mind, but it’s something to note based on the price you are paying |+ the resort is a bit away from anything else, which means if you don’t have a car you’ll be eating all your meals on the property. We had one lunch (beach bar) and one dinner (seafood buffet) on site, and spent about $350 for two people between the two, without any alcohol. We would have loved a more low key grab and go food option for lunch at least

Ten stars - an extremely well run hotel with a stunning setting. Everyone on the staff was super friendly. Everything is done really, really well ||An unusual option is available for kids and families - to learn about and play with some very friendly dolphins. There are no dolphin "shows" but it is fun to watch the kids with the dolphins - who do some tricks during the time they play with kids. The people working with the dolphins and kids seem very experienced and knowledgeable - I'm never before seen this option available at a hotel. ||There are several nice restaurants - our favorite was the restaurant where you can dine indoors or outdoors.||This is an expensive, luxury facility. It is possible to find "deals" But even so, it will be expensive. But imho, it's really worth the cost if you can afford it.

I enjoyed my five days at the Kahala: great rooms, a variety of restaurants that were all excellent, and a quiet and safe beach. The dolphins were a plus that I did not expect (I could read more). Very enjoyable and a short bus ride to Waikiki Beach, if you wish for an adventure. Staff were very helpful and polite.

When I stayed here for three nights a few weeks ago I loved it and I still do. Definitely one of the best resorts I’ve been to, there is no doubt about it. For its rooms, you know it’s getting a 5 out of 5 people. I love the spacious rooms, the bathrooms, even if it does feel dated it doesn’t take away from my enjoyment. For service, it continues to score a 5 out of 5. All of the staff are awesome and do more than what they’re expected to make our stay phenomenal. They even have door-to-door room service where they serve food and bring it into your own room, which is a very nice touch. The activities they have are enough to keep us on the property for most of our stay, so it definitely deserves the 5/5. The location drags its score down a little bit though. It gets a 4.5 out of 5, because even though I like the isolated nature of the hotel and its proximity to the beach, it’s not within walking distance of anything else. Most of the surrounding area is a residential area but it’s definitely not too far from the main part of the tourism. Other than that, everything else is awesome. The activities, the heated pool, the built-in gym, the nearby beach, even the atmosphere as a whole, there really isn’t a limit to what I can praise about the Kahala. While it doesn’t get a combined score of 15 out of 15, it scores a 14.5 out of 15, which is good enough let’s be honest. Absolutely one of the best I’ve been so far, though I probably won’t be coming back again due to its pricey amenities.
