We came into Sweet Basil on a Thursday night. We started with the Buffalo Chicken Rangoon and Teriyaki Beef skewers. They arrived quickly, and fresh. The Teriyaki skewers were served with a tomato sauce that reminded me of a salsa derivative, it was very good. 10/10 The Rangoons were cooked perfectly and i'm sure some people love them but I personally didn’t care for them honestly. 7/10, wouldn’t order again We ordered Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao both with chicken as entrees. The Pad See Ew was good but not great. Good flavor but was missing something. A Solid 8/10. The Pad Kee Mao was very good - I ordered on recommendation of the waiter and it was exceptional 10/10. Only critique was that it had very little chicken. Decent value, plates were average size 7.5/10 for value Service was exceptional 10/10 Bathrooms were clean 10/10 I give this place a 9/10 but since it’s out of 5, I have to go 5/5. Reason being it's closer to a 5 than 4 and I don't want to be the one dragging it to a 4. It’s not a 5 but it is a strong 4.75 and definitely a strong offering.

A welcome new spot to get the SE Asian street food I love. Although the food feels like it leans more Lao, the Thai food was also great! I do wish the platters came with a bit of jeow bong instead of as a separate add-on but that’s a minor issue. I’d definitely come back here if I’m on the south side though! Note: dine in can get pretty crowded so I’d probably recommend takeout if you don’t go early.

Stopped here for the first time tonight. The food was incredible. Staff were so friendly and so welcoming. I tried the teriyaki beef with sticky rice and it was phenomenal. I can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu!

Sweet Basil is one of the very best additions to the south side food scene recently, our most frequently ordered takeout for sure! Their online menu is so easy to navigate, with separate gluten free and vegan menus, and ultra customizable- you can remove bamboo shoots from your meal or add broccoli or tofu or a dozen other things, and choose your spice level. We love the curries and the noodles and fried rice, and their monthly specials are usually great too. We don’t know what we’d do without you Sweet Basil!

Sweet Basil is absolutely the BEST Thai food I have ever had across the USA! The Tom Kha soup was extremely flavorful with just the right amount of heat (your choice of spice level 1-5, I got the 4), spices and lemongrass. Sometimes lemongrass can either be too strong or not present at all, but at Sweet Basil the flavors were all in perfect balance. The best part was that I wanted a curry but omitting certain ingredients and adding others. They were very accommodating and I received the perfect bowl of curry just the way I like it and it too was perfectly flavored, just like the soup. Sweet Basil will not disappoint, I look forward to going back to try their other dishes!

This is our first time eating at Sweet Basil. My wife and I saw that this restaurant served Thai food close to our house, and when looking at their menu online, they also have loatian food as well. It was something new for us. We are glad we ordered from Sweet Basil. The food was super delicious. We ordered the Tom Kha soup, and the flavor was really good. Next was the Chicken Basil fried rice. Omg it was really good, I could've had that alone as a meal. Lastly, we ordered the Starter Platter, and I would definitely recommend it. The meat and chicken street eats marinade they use is super delicious, and we now want to return to try more food on the menu. I'm so glad we finally tried Sweet Basil, and it's a restaurant we will definitely be returning to. Thank you to the owners for bringing such good food to this area.

"You should give them 10 stars if you can." My fiance and I LOVE Sweet Basil! Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked well. The jeow bong fried rice, lemongrass skewers, and lao sausage are our favorites! We live and work no where near their location, but will absolutely go out of our way for it. The staff is so friendly, and you can tell that they really care about the quality of their dishes and customer experience. Just go, you won't be disappointed!

Being from Thailand, I know I am extremely critical when reviewing Thai restaurants. That said, Sweet Basil is an exceptional Thai restaurant that combines tradition with modernized hospitality and service to serve excellent food. The food was awesome and the portions are justified. I did not expect it to be as incredible as it was, because Thai restaurants in Milwaukee are typically letdowns. This place is definitely an exception and highly recommended…I ordered Papaya Salad, Laos Sausage, Panang Curry, and Sticky rice. For dessert we got the fried banana. Again, everything was excellent!

Ok, I'll be honest. I was expecting this to be something of a "dive bar." Instead, it's casual, a bit darker and more rustic. Nice place to watch a game, shoot pool, or chill on at a back table with friends. I ordered the Pub Burger. A half-pound, ta

The food is very good. The place was hopping for a Friday night and yet the staff was very responsive and efficient. Steak enchiladas were very good and the chicken enchiladas were very good too.
