Great hiking trail. The views are lovely for the peak of Fall season. Bean and Bear Lakes looks clear, untouched, and majestic. Highly recommend to start early in the morning to avoid larger crowds. The loop took us 5 hours with stops to break and take pictures. Dress accordingly to the weather.

Parking lot is huge and somehow it still overflows on weekends. Highly recommend coming here in the middle of the week. Barely anyone on the trail. Its a moderate hike IMO. Trail design is fun and there's always something interesting (like a viewpoint or very brief rock scramble) to keep you excited. Take the loop clockwise. Several parts of the trail get VERY muddy, especially the eastern part of the loop. Even after 3 days of direct sunlight, there were still muddy sections. The viewpoint with both bean and bear lake in the background is iconic and well worth the hike. None of my pictures have filters on them and are an accurate representation of what you'll see. I have a sun tracking app - up until 2pm-ish, the cliffside will cast a shadow on the valley below. Best time to visit might be late afternoon.

Loved this trail. As a new(ish) hiker, this was very accessible! I would recommend bringing appropriate hiking gear (first aid kit, flashlight, etc.) but that is normal. We went in the winter, no snow. Definitely use a compass and check trail routes regularly. Lots of parking, seems to be busy most of the time :)

Great but difficult hike. Awesome views throughout... Went swimming at bear lake and had a great time.

Great experience. Plan well. It takes more time than expected. So suggest hiking early in the day so that you can return to the base by end of the day. Doesn't have any eminities in the hiking trails.

We did about a little over 5 miles from this spot, out and back to Bean Lake. The trail is well marked and of easy to moderate difficulty. It was a bit hot out for our puppy otherwise we'd have gone even further. Beautiful section of trails!

Big parking lots but because it Soo popular due to hiking trail to bean and bear lake you have to go early to get a spot. If the parking is full you can park along the street too.

One of the quintessential hikes in MN that many casual and serious hikers do. The views are spectacular and well worth the effort!

The cart in campsites are amazing. Very secluded/private! We had site D which was a bit of a hike from the parking lot. It took us 3 trips with the cart to bring everything to the site, but the carts are big and sturdy. We've always camped at drive-i

The visitors center is fantastic with a great rest area with well maintained restrooms. This was probably our third hike to Shovel Point. Our large family of all ages tried it the first time. It’s a decent quick hike for almost every family to the
