Driving through the Iron Mountain Road tunnels also means that you’ll be driving through Black Hills National Forest.

Good place for a photo opportunity. It's unmarked so watch for pull-off areas on the side of the road. As you can imagine, the best location to take a photo of this is whilst in the middle of the road. Mind the traffic of busses, other vehicles, and motorcycles. It wasn't bad at all while we were there in the middle of the day. Everyone else who was stopping to do the same was courteous and friendly. This is a wonderfully scenic drive. Take your time and enjoy the curvy road and gorgeous surroundings.
Rode my Cannondale Touring from the Wolfe Camp & Cafe to the SJT. 4.1 miles, almost 3 of it seemed all up hill. There's an incredible feeling being able to experience Mount Rushmore from your bike.
