This was a great and relaxing place to go in the island! We were lucky they have ponys feeding as the first time we drove by there were none, so I'll suggest going there in the morning time. The beach access across the street it's one of my favorite as it has limited parking so it has limited people (if you want some privacy and nice beach time without too many people). We really like it! Great for kids and families! I highly recommend it 🔥🔥🔥
We took the kids to the pony pen and everyone enjoyed it. There is easy accessible parking close by and it was just a short drive from the beach house where we were staying. Definitely worth the trip.
Very spacious area for the Ponies. You probably won't see them up close but should get at least a view from a distance. There are two elevated viewing decks.
This is just a quick stop. It's just a coral for the ponies. You can scan a qr code to adopt one. This helps fund their care. There is no one there to answer questions. There an info sign but that's about it. Being that is free and you can sit all long as you like, it's nice. Across the road there is the most fantastic picnic spot! These ponies are different from the wild ponies that you can see on the wild pony tours.
Bah humbug. We stopped mid morning to see the ponies. None were close to the viewing platform. Pretty boring. We both own horses, so we were interested in seeing them A non event. Maybe if you go around 5 in the evening when they get fed you would get a closer look at them.
Park in the lot. Walk up steps for a stand that you can see the few pony's that are fenced in. They are pretty and seem well kept. But you can not get close to them. It is sad that they can not roam free but people would run them down I assume.
While visiting Ocracoke Island, we stopped and visited the Ocracoke ponies. Our grandkids thought the ponies were really cool. A great place to visit and relax for awhile. The beaches are pristine and on this day, the ocean was calm and mild and not crowded. A hidden gem this time of year and a good place to get away from it all. If only, for a few hours.
Wonderful place to see the wild ponies. Note that they are wild ponies and sometimes you’ll see them at the corners or in the barn and sometimes they’ll be out in the field. It looks like they have a way to feed them near the viewing area. Make sure to not feed the ponies and follow all the rules. They have a very nice viewing platform.
