Pickles Deli Restaurant & Catering - Deli in Newbury Park - 1940 Newbury Rd, USA

I hate to post negative comments about restaurants and the food but this is unacceptable on so many levels. Although the size of this roast beef sandwich was massive, you can clearly see that the meat is not fresh. It was multi colored and had a smell and very bad taste. It was not fresh at all and the meat had been sitting around in the walk in for some time. This is what I would expect from a restaurant that has 500 things on the menu. You can’t expect everything to be done well when you do so many different things. The menu is out of control and overwhelming just to thumb through. The soup was good I will say. Great flavor and loved the veggies in it.

Had a wonderful sandwhich, burger, food for day and dinner Reubens and burger are that big in size. Had fresh pickles and thin sliced bagel/ pita chips. Time of day...Sunday lunch no crowd Plenty of outdoor patio like covered seating

Visited a few weeks ago. The food was great and it was a very comfortable experience. Enjoyed our meals and had some leftovers for the following day too!

In previous visits, i rated this restaurant a Five +. But not this time. Even though it wasn't busy at all, in the three times i visited on this trip, the service was terribly slow. It seems like the place in understaffed. Also, the prices have gotten ridiculously high. On my last visits the prices were a little on the high side, but worth the quality of the food. Not this time. I had ordered cheese blintzes and a corned beef sandwich. I had specifically asked that the cheese blintzes be brought out first, and then the sandwich later. Instead I got a side salad first, and before I was halfway through that salad, I was served both cheese blintzes and the corned beef sandwich. I don't like eating cold food. I had asked for the sandwich to be taken back and kept warm until I had time to properly eat my cheese blintzes. My server seemed a little reluctant to do that, but in the end she did. After I finish the cheese blintzes, my server came out with my sandwich that had been obviously placed under a heat lamp, and as such the bread was now so dried out it was like biting into a piece of wood, and the meat inside the sandwich was completely dried out. They chose the lazy way out instead of providing me with some fresh bread and slightly less cooked meat. As much as I love this place before, I will be a little more reluctant to go back again.

Stumbled on this place looking for breakfast on new years day and came away totally satisfied. Far more than a deli. Its a full service restaurant that serves breakfast all day, comfort foods, sandwiches with meats piled 6 inches tall, and desserts. Excellent waitstaff [Mary, you rock] in humble 'diner esque' surrounding.

Been a few times when visiting family w grandkids.Hard to pin point issue but never feel great about eating here. Menu is loaded , service is ok never welcoming and taste of food under whelms Sorry .

Amazing breakfast! The Lox was delicious! The Omelette was perfection. I took a chance on the Cottage Cheese and was shocked at how good it was! (*most other restaurants have runny/disgusting Cottage Cheese) Server (Anna) was very personable and had great suggestions! Highly recommended Pickles!!!

Sitting on the patio with a triple layer sandwich I haven't had in years was a very delightful way to spend the day and encouraging me to pick up my level of exercise. I like this Deli.
