Ocean Reef Resort - Resort hotel in Myrtle Beach - 7100 N Ocean Blvd # 708, USA

We had a great time at Ocean Reef Resort. The room was so clean! The beds were comfortable and the staff were very nice. Our tv in the main living space went out and was replaced within a couple of hours! Very nice maintenance men! Housekeeping was very nice and provided everything we needed! We will go back next year!!

After reading previous reviews, we were pleasantly surprised with our room. The tile floors were a bit sandy, but we found a dustpan and broom and swept it up. No more problem. The kitchen had everything in it we needed. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, great ocean views! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Had a great time at Ocean Reef this week. A quick walk to the beach where we never had a problem finding space to set up our stuff. The pool and hot tub areas were easy to access and clean. Entertainment by the pool was enjoyable. The breakfast buffet is great. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping came by at the same time each morning to collect trash and leave fresh towels as needed. Our specific room was a 2 bedroom and suited our needs perfectly. Beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. I hear the resort is remodeling the kitchens and bathrooms soon which will only make it better!

This is the only hotel/resort I've been to that actually smells GOOD inside! Like nice air freshener. The breakfast and drinks were good but pricey. My son loved the big tube water slide. The staff were all very nice. Only giving 4 stars for service because we asked for more bath towels to be sent to our room, but we never got them.

I loved the experience. The only real issue I had was that I spent way too much time away from my family and vacation trying to get my door to work. I mean open in general. I had to have went downstairs to get it fixed about 4 times and went about 6 total to get new keys. It’s just crazy that it took so much effort just to be able to get in our room. The pools were great! The food was great! The parking was great! I would definitely go back but I hope it would be a bit easier.

Stayed in Myrtle beach for 5 days and when it was time to leave we wanted to stay one more night to enjoy the beach, so we booked this hotel for our last night. This place destroyed that feeling and we couldn’t wait to leave. 40 min wait for the one elevator that was working and when we finally got to the room, it had a moldy smell and the bed sizes we ordered wasn’t the bed sizes we got, the ac was disgustingly dirty and there were black marks around the room. When I went to speak with the front desk about it the manager pretty much told me to bad & cancel then if i want. When i booked through a third party site it showed me which room # i would be getting but when i checked in they gave me a different room. When i asked about it they said they already gave the room to someone else. So i contacted the third party site, when they contacted the hotel the manager refused to cancel so they site had to override them to cancel it. Manager was very rude and lacked customer service skills. I understand things happen sometimes out of your control but a little empathy goes a long way. I could not sleep in that room with my 9 month old baby. My family and I truly enjoyed Myrtle beach until we checked in there. We just wanted somewhere to stay before our 16 hr drive back home to Canada. The only good thing about the hotel is that it’s right by the water.

The room was filthy and smelled like marijuana. The staff couldn’t be bothered to help with any issues, I was told to go buy fabreeze by housekeeping to get rid of the smell. The air conditioner didn’t work right and the toilet wouldn’t stop running and when asked to fix nobody showed up. I had to change out my own towels and vacuum my own room because housekeeping never came even when requested. I have stayed here several times and was never disappointed until now. I will not be returning and have found another hotel close by that has a very courteous staff and the rooms are clean and updated.

I think what makes this place the best at times is the employees. I've never met an employee here that doesn't try to at least help you with your problems. I know they've got a new guy now that does the plumbing and dealing with the pools at night. I actually saw him fill up the water for the hot tubs after I requested it with the pool staff. Unfortunately the hot tubs have been leaking for about 3 years now. The one outside and two others need constant water to keep the water levels up in them. I believe they also need to find a way to fix the Jets underneath these hot tubs they're not even working. The food quality in the after hours Grill is very good. The slide was open up till 7:15 p.m. on most nights which was exceptional. Unfortunately the remodel that has been supposed to happen 2 years ago has not yet happened. Current staff told me that it's happening come this October and we'll start with the Upper floors on North side. The remodel is long overdue! Unfortunately this old girl is showing her age in the various rooms we have rented in the last 6 years. I will say it once again it's not Margaritaville but it's not Joe's Motel either. I think if it's something in the middle of your expectations then this Resort will accomplish that and more. Remember all rooms are individually owned. Some owners keep up their properties better than others. Unfortunately a lot of the owners have gone with outside rental agencies like VRBO. I like all the Ocean Reef staff they have all treated me great in these last 6 years. I appreciate the great service you have offered me. I hope this remodel starts soon. I hope it benefits the guest and the employees.
