This is a review for the outdoor pools only. I went yesterday evening with my 3 and 7 yo’s and they had a blast! It’s different than I expected - no water slides or lazy river, but the wave pool was a hit. The wave pool is a long rectangle with zero entry on two ends and gradually deepens to 3.5’ in the middle. My 3 yo could safely jump waves in the 2’ section and my 7 yo could go wherever he wanted. There were tubes available in the wave pool and life jackets/puddle jumpers too. Both kids loved jumping the waves and swimming through them. There is also a very nice, fairly large splash pad with an overhead area that has water guns you can aim to splash people below you. And there’s a non-wave pool that has water fountains splashing in it my kids enjoyed. We like water park style pools more (like Jack Carter and the Frisco Water Park) but this is a fun option (and costs a little less than the other ones too).

This is a first rate facility. The price for Plano residents is extremely reasonable. I'm a Collin County resident and pay into Plano schools, but I do not live in the City of Plano, so my cost was a bit higher... but still about half of what it would cost me to join 24-hour fitness. The staff is really friendly. There is plenty of equipment and everything is really clean and well-kept. Available are B-ball courts, racket ball, indoor track, free weights, a circuit training and more. The indoor pool is amazing and is huge with 20 lanes (there is a nice online calendar showing lap-swimming availability, as area high schools use this pool for practice. There are plenty of hours where there are 15 or more lanes available... I've never had to share). I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I think there could be some small upgrades to the Women's locker room that would not kill the budget. I'd like to see them add some safety-bars to the walls of ALL showers as well as several hooks on the INSIDE where you could hang a coverup and a bag that has shampoo, soap, razor, etc. --- you know, have your stuff where you can see it, rather than on the outside of the shower stall. I'm not handicap, per se, but I'm at an age where I like to hang onto a bar when I'm getting in and out of the shower. There is only one handicap shower with safety bars on the walls. I use it when it's empty... and I might feel a tad guilty about that... but I've seen other "non-handicapped" ladies using it too. It's large, has a place to put your gym bag with clothes, a hand-held nozzle, shower bench and the safety bars on all walls for hanging on ... and, it's large enough to dress in when finished. Anyway... that's a VERY MINOR issue. The facility overall is fantastic.

My kid Loves the outdoor pools especially the one with waves. As of lately is nearly impossible to book swim lessons there they are offering very limited spots for too many children’s wanting swimming lessons in the area and the indoor pools are always crowded especially the one with laps. Used to be better 4 years ago.

Normally a great place to enjoy time with your kids. But not today! My son and I wanted to shoot around and play one in one. The courts were busy so we just shot around. When my son started doing some lay ups and gave home some pointers. Then a staff member walked over to me and told me that I wasn’t allowed to coach my child. I stated I wasn’t coaching him. Which he replied my manager has a camera and was watching. I again stated that I wasn’t. Then I stated it was another parent with his kid running full drills. He said I’m about to talk to him also. What was funny is that we were there for 30 minutes and the other parent was there before us training his kid. So if the manager was watching the camera they other person would’ve been stopped. I have had an annual membership for the past 8 years. I will not renew and think this was a race issue. I will not be back.

I like this gym less busy than other Plano rec centers. They lack a dedicated bench press in the free weight room. You can use the power rack to bench and it has a nice area for dead lifts and power cleans. Nice functional fitness area.

Love this large pool. Very clean and well managed. Never used other workout facilities, but I'm sure they are nice too. Looks like outdoor pool area is being totally renovated. Bet it will be nice when completed!!

The gym is too small to be any good. Even at slow times, there’s not enough strength-training equipment to go around. Be prepared to wait for people to hog the equipment, playing on their phones, texting at their leisure. I canceled my membership after three days.
