So many options for things to do. On a budget; walk around ad look at all the cool things like the lighthouse, battery and the beach. Take some selfies and collect some shells then have a picnic. Want to splurge; visit all the museums, play at the beach then eat and drink the night away. Either way it will be a great day. It stormed on us and we still loved it!
Far north, North Beach on Tybee island is quiet a bit different from the busy beach area by the Tybee Pavilion. The parking lot is large and there are public restrooms. Also the North Beach grill is located there. The beach is really two beaches. The ocean beach and a bay beach. The ocean beach is pretty much the same as rest of Tybee's beaches to the south. The bay (the entrance to Lazaretto creek) beach starts with a favorite spot with Surfers and proceeds for mile or so to the northwest. Many birds visit this portion of the beach and not so many people. Both are very enjoyable.
North Beach offers a more laid-back beach setting for families and locals. It also has North Beach Bar & Grill within walking distance for great food and drinks and umbrella/chair rentals. From here you will also be within walking distance to the Tybee Lighthouse and the Tybee History Museum. If you want to learn to surf, walk over the north beach boardwalk and talk to Turner at Tybee Surf Lessons.
A beautiful expanse of coastline along the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Sand is clean and free of rubbish. The dunes bookend with the gently breaking waves. Fish dart about as you swim. An occasional porpoise or shark can be seen by some as they transit the warm summertime waters. The backdrop is the stoic lighthouse looking over it all.
Plenty of parking on the beach side behind the lighthouse and fort screven? $4/hr 2hr min card or quarters only. There are showers and ONE shower spray low for your feet but the water pressure isn’t worth your time *EXPERT TIP😂
Just go to your hotel/personal shower and save an hour for your family😬😒🤣.
Also free “show” helicopters flying by and large cargo ships go by this area.
The Island was having a city wide yard sale and this area has a public bathroom available. We were going to park and take a quick restroom break without paying to park but noticed that a meter lady was already writing tickets at around 9a.m. Very few cars in the parking lot. Long story short my husband dropped me off to go to the restroom and when I was done he stopped and I got in and drove around while he went to the restroom. Wanted to vent and give you a heads up to either pay to park or drive around or get a ticket. If your parking time expires the fine is $32 and if you stay all day and time runs out the fee is $47. There is no free parking on Tybee Island. Go to Hilton Head were the beaches are nicer and parking is free.
It really stinks that no dogs are allowed on Tybee, not even off season. I am a responsible dog owner who keeps my dog on a leash and picks up after him. If you don't accept my dog, then I'll go elsewhere. This rule seems backwards and unreasonable.
It was well maintained, and ease of access to the beach. The person renting chairs and umbrellas was a bit much as they took prime real estate right next to the boardwalk. But I get it, everyone needs to make a buck. We got there early and barely found a parking spot. Water was great! Coolers are tough to drag. No glass or pets on the beach.....they are pretty serious about those rules. Download the Tybee Parking app, it is super easy and convenient!

Fantastic place for bourbon and rye! Found a few things I had been looking for! They have an excellent selection and some hard to find and allocated bottles! Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable and in some cases below
Amazing food and coffee and service! The açaà bowl was outstanding, and I got an ice agave nectar oat milk latte that was so surprisingly good (they do not offer flavored syrups, so that is what was recommended). The Sammy was very good as well. Al
Great coffee and breakfast burritos. The staff were all nice and quick and the place was pretty clean. They have some good tybean merchandise to choose from too. I do have to say that their bathroom though was odd to say the least... Other than that
We honestly visited this place because of the reviews and we love visiting "local" places. We are so HAPPY that we did! They are only open with reservation due to VERY LIMITED seating. Simon will bake you anything you want, even vegan pastries, if yo
My wife and I stayed at Surf Song for a week 09/22-29/2023. We came to Tybee Island to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Sunrise suite, and it was absolutely amazing!!! Waking up every day to that beautiful view and sunrise ove
I went awhile back. We rented a golf cart and drove it here. There were plenty of parking spots. Admission was $12 for an adult. Your ticket includes both the light station and Battery Garland across the street. The light station has 178 steps and no
Amazing place!! The ice cream was delicious and there were a ton of toppings to put on! The place is really nicely organized and there is plenty of candy that I have trouble finding at a normal grocery store or even a candy store! The deserts are DEF
Blown away!! We (sadly) discovered this place on our last night in Tybee, but so glad we did! The sushi was incredible!! Donât be fooled by its location which is a little tourist trappy. This place IS the real deal and IS NOT a gimmicky beach strip
We always enjoy Tybee. Having grown up on Wilmington Island and dealing with changing beach through the years.... I can honestly say that it is better now than ever before. Decent slope from sand to shells to water and waves. We love South, Mid beach
