I learn (or rather retain) something new every time I visit. If you live here, Saturday mornings are free so it worth coming once a month to view the exhibits or join their Sunday speaker series.

Excellent, newer museum that tells the south Texas story from pre -Spaniards thru today. Excellent artifacts with well done, bilingual signage, Covers all development very well. including military, colonization and industry. We parked in the onsite free parking, and stayed about 3 hours.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the artistry and level of care put into these exhibits. Lovely little museum.

Came to see the exhibit on Dr. Garcia's Gold. It was a quick viewing. Went ahead and revisited the permanent exhibits as well. History, especially local history, is fascinating.

I LOVE this museum. The designer did such a great job making it immersive and interactive. You can really imagine what life was like and how it progressed in the RGV (puro 956!). From roaming tribes to early settlers onto the industrial revolution and so on. Also, for you ghost hunters, the jail is a nice touch of history and the supernatural. I don't believe in ghosts or spirits but being there truly made me uncomfortable. Maybe it was the lighting or maybe it was something else, but we only stayed for a few minutes before deciding to skedaddle. I hope y'all enjoy this place as much as we did. There might also be a mystery to solve in the jail but we couldn't figure it out and as mentioned earlier, we didn't stay for very long.

It was really great to walk thru. You can get a tour or just go a slow a you please. We chose the slow way to see and read. I will post just a little of what you will see. Please take your time going thru it. It's well worth the trip. They have a gift shop too. So go in and buy something. The lady, who helped me find books for my son in law, was very polite and helpful. She understood what kind of books I was looking for. I enjoyed the time there. It's also air conditioned so that helped alot. $6 for seniors. $9 for regular adults lol. Husband hates to admit he is a senior so he paid full price lol. Military was $6. It's worth the trip.
