Moody's Diner - Diner in Waldoboro - 1885 Atlantic Hwy, USA

We had a terrific time at this iconic restaurant, both coming to and leaving Maine (lunch first visit, breakfast second). We had some great chowder for lunch. They make their desserts and pastries--the doughnuts we had with breakfast were awesome. We took some cheesecake to go after our lunch, and it was a very welcome treat later that evening.

Read so many reviews about how great the food is and the pies. We sat at the bar. Best part of this place is the photos on the walls, the nostalgia of the place and coffee mugs.. Outside of that, the staff is snippy to each other, they are put out if you ask for more water or to see a dessert menu. The vibe was awful. The food was okay. The biscuits were good. All the pies 🥧 looked amazing. I asked for a slice of blueberry heated. The pie was cold just like the staff. I would only order pie and do not have high expectations from the staff. 10/19/2023

Will be in South Thomaston in October and can’t wait for a return to Moody’s and a piece of blueberry pie!😋 Update: Well, we flew in yesterday and had dinner at Moody’s on our way to our rental. It was Saturday night and we had a bit of a wait but it was worth it! Our waitress, Brenda, gave me a bit of a stink eye when I took her photo coming out of the kitchen carrying orders but she was the complete package as our server. Professional, competent and friendly even though she was busting it on a busy Saturday night with customers filling up the waiting area. The rolls were amazing, the sweet potato fries delicious and my haddock chowder loaded with haddock. Sadly, no room left for blueberry pie but we got it to go and I devoured it for breakfast😋😁 Here for a week and we’ll definitely be going back to Moody’s👍

Moody’s has become a family tradition for us. Anytime we are driving up north and pass Waldoboro, a pit stop at Moody’s is a must. This place is truly a gem with so much history. How lucky are we to have Moody’s be part of our state. We first dined at Moody’s two years ago and just fell in love with it. We love diners, and Moody’s is the epitome of a perfect one: no frills, extensive menu, cheap prices, yummy food that makes you feel good, great coffee, and that ambiance that’s so unique to diners in New England. They have plenty of parking and plenty of space inside, so even on their packed days we haven’t had to wait more than 5 mins to get a booth or table. We love all of the seating options — booths, tables, and bars are available. The menu is quite extensive. We’ve enjoyed their breakfasts and sandwiches, as well as their pies and biscuits (they’re to die for!). The chicken parm sub, the Bertha burger, and the Reuben’s are some of our favorite items from their menu. We are grateful for places like Moody’s Diner. Thank you for being open for all these years!

My family and I stayed at the Moody’s Cabins (which, if you do not know, is located right up the hill above where the Moody’s Diner is) and every day we were there, we visited the diner for breakfast and dinner. Since we were already staying at the cabins, we were given a discount for our orders at the diner. Great food, and it has a comfortable, homey feeling. Kind of feels nostalgic and old-timey. Very efficient service, and the waitresses are always working so hard and hustling from one table to the next. The prices are very reasonable and perfect for a big family order. You will not regret coming here!

First time visit great late lunch of fish and chips (upgraded to excellent onion rings) and fish chowder full of fish chunks, not too thick as most are. Too full for dessert but took a slice of blueberry pie for later (grateful to have with a cup of tea in our room.). We wandered back and stayed in that night in a classic 1920’s Moodys Motel cabin Clean , comfortable, with a hot shower and tons of charm and because we had to try the Diner for breakfast. Also excellent.

This place was nostalgic, right off the highway and VERY busy. The true sign of good food. Had about a 20 minute wait at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, but we got a good preview of everyones orders coming out. I settled on the chicken croquettes because of someone else's order. They were DELICIOUS!! Portions were huge, coffee was great. Wishing I lived a little closer. But I did get me a coffee cup to go as a reminder of my delicious meal, excellent coffee and exceptional experience at Moodys😊

Group of 6 and server was amazing! Everyone's order was correct and promptly served. Also an ice cream stand on property!
