I am a delievery Captian and we docked in Hilton Head. As we plugged up to shore power, we realized we had no AC power. We call Marine Tech Services for their assistance. Without hesitation, they were in the process of getting someone out to help us. We ended up not needing them but just the fact that they would make a special effort to help us in an industry that is so backed up and over worked was great. So they did not actually do any work but I have no doubt it would be done well based on my experience.

Gary from Marine tech assisted me when my sailboat was disabled in Hilton Head, he first consulted with me over the phone to diagnose the problem, after i sent him a few picture of the issue with my mixing elbow, he located and ordered the parts, the next day right before thanksgiving he was on my boat and fixed the issue perfectly. I will be forever thankful of the fast service amd professionality of Gary, Kristie and all the staff at Marine Tech

Called to have my Generator diagnosed and repaired. Kristy quickly got back to me and set me up with Gary who came the next day at 7:00 AM. Gary came prepared and fixed it in no time. Great work, great experience. Gary is a skilled mechanic and is a pleasure to work with.

After our prop shaft broke for the second time and had to be towed there, they made us feel welcome and their professionalism made us feel like they would get to the bottom of our prop problem - which they absolutely did. The customer service was over the top, the best we’ve seen on this trip (The Great Loop). We also had a new dinghy delivered there while waiting on parts and the guys in the service yard were quick to help in everything we needed to get it assembled and launched. Kristy, the service manager, offered to help us out with getting transportation to get groceries, etc. Great people! The marina is small, with plans for expansion, but nice with a great restaurant and bar on site. The gated community where this is located is beautiful.

We had these texts, come out to the marina and they were very professional. They did a good job.

I have been in boating for over 40 years and have had my share of experience with marine service companies. Seldom have I worked with a group as responsive, easy to deal with, anxious to please their customer, and going above and beyond to ensure a great customer experience as Marine Tech Services. Did I mention they're pricing is extremely fair and competitive? Part of what really separates them from most of the others I have dealt with was the extra effort put into the details, not having any surprises, and being very accommodating. It is my understanding they are a family owned and operated business and they make their customers feel they care about them just as they do about their family and business. It should also be noted that much of what they did for me was by long distance as I was not even here until all of the work was finished. I would recommend Marine Tech Services without hesitation or reservation. They will be my go to group for any of my boating needs.

Beware of MARINE TECH SERVICES! We fled from hurricane Florence in our trawler and ended up in Hilton Head needing a generator repower. John, the owner of Marine Tech Services gave us an estimate and stated he would “treat me right”. We agreed on a price for the generator and labor. I had been forewarned of his shenanigans by two local marina harbormasters but I guess I fell for his sales pitch. A few days after giving him $20k as down payment for the generator and labor he sent out a Half Price Sale Notice via email to everyone of his customers but us! We had not taken delivery and were not scheduled for installation for weeks. I had to send an email to the VP of Northern Lights to resolve the issue with their dealer. Following the installation, Marine Tech Services tried to make up for their loss by charging almost 70 hours labor after I did most the on board installation myself! Good thing I did because after the installation their “Technician” advised me that was the first northern lights generator they had installed. Included in their billing was $120/hr each for two young mechanics helpers! I had to threaten them with my onboard camera recordings of the actual time (40 hrs) they worked to get them to back off. I am a retired Coast Guardsman/U.S Customs Criminal Investigator and after 30 years of contracting marine repairs I have never seen such questionable and creative billing practices. Maybe its just a Hilton Head mentality but buyer beware!

Kind, amazing folks. We encountered engine trouble traveling from Beaufort to Edisto Island with a planned stop at Dataw for lunch. It was a hot summer afternoon the day after my wife’s birthday and she was not happy. Kristi answered the phone when I made the “Hail Mary” call just to see if someone could look at the boat. This is in July when getting a boat into a shop before football season is basically impossible. Incredibly, she sent John over in less than 20 minutes and he was in the boat at the dock going through potential issues. He was able to get it running properly and allow us to make it home that afternoon and remain married for another day. John explained the issues clearly and suggested some preventative maintenance when we get the boat home. I can’t imagine how professional and meticulous these folks would be under normal circumstances with an appointment and time to work on a boat in their shop. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
