Fun for the kids to pretend being teachers or students. Scavenger hunt and ringing the bell was engaging. Had lots of fun on the equipment outside. Great history.

Great free museum (donations appreciated). The whole walking tour was superbly done but this was the highlight. I wish we had planned for more time here since there is so much to see.

The Keystone Museum was a wonderful find and one we did not know existed. It's an old schoolhouse turned into a museum. Built in 1899, the school's first classes were held in 1901 and the last classes held were in 1988. As I walked around the school turned museum I could imagine the sounds of children laughing on the way to the basement, where the gymnasium was, for recess during the winter months. The wooden stairs at the entery way show the level of detail they put into their buildings "back in the day". Walking through the old classrooms was very nostalgic and really beckoned back to a simplier age. I even rang the old school bell a few times. Stop in and visit the Keystone Museum, it is even on the National Register of Historic Places by the Department of the Interior. The cost to visit is free, but it's always good to drop a few dollars in the donation box (it's the wood carved bear at the front door.) Worth the price? It's free! Just go there!

This was a neat find! Completely free and has some awesome historical pieces from the area inside. It is an old school that was turned into a museum. They have a rook on Carrie Ingalls with some trinkets from the Ingalls family.

This is a cute museum. It is a free museum that has 3 floors you can tour. It's a self guided tour that you can take at your own pace and even ring the old school bell if you want too. A very nice and fun way to learn about a little history. Our kids enjoyed it.

I'm from New York, but my father grew up in Keystone. Him, his siblings and many cousin all went to school here! I love that his old school house is being preserved as a museum. We try to go whenever we get out there for a visit.

Although this is just a tunnel; for many folks this will be a really neat experience. In addition to being a one lane tunnel through the rock of the Black Hills one of the entrances is part of a pig tail loop in the road. One note, be sure to honk
