Hugo's Restaurant - Peruvian restaurant in Rahway - 1505-1507 Main St, USA

I've been here for group lunch with my coworkers. It was such a huge serving, so you will get more than what you pay. Lol It was good food, but the sauce was a bit salty to me. Would like to try their seafood options next time.

Delicious Peruvian food! We came here tonight for my Aunt’s birthday. We had 5 tables or more of people. We were all spread out because there were about 30+ of us. All of the food was excellent. Portions are huge - family style. The service was not great because they were slammed. So many people here tonight and had to wait 40 minutes or more to be seated and then we waited a while for them to take our order and then to be served. The food was delicious! See photos with description. I would give this place a 4.5 if I could, minus 0.5 for service. This place is highly recommended.

Hugo’s is the best Peruvian food - always try to go when in the neighborhood or at least grab take out.

Had a friend's night and got Hugo’s for takeout. We had Steak, shrimp fried rice, rotisserie chicken, and fried fish. Portions of food are quite large! Which I love. The shrimp fried rice was amazing. It wasn’t overly salty and the dish was seasoned very well. The chicken was pretty decent. The steak was one of my favorites as well. It was tender, seasoned great, and went well with the shrimp fried rice. The fried fish wasn’t a fan favorite, however. I would come back and dine in because I was advised that the inside just was redone.

I should start by saying I don’t really know much about what authentic Peruvian food is, but I have Hispanic friends who do and they recommended I try here! Since shellfish doesn’t get along with me, I tried the Lomo saltado. It was tasty, saucy, hot, satisfying. I was also able to practice a bit of Spanish with the waitress which was a fun side benefit I hadn’t thought about! Worth another visit to try different dishes.

Nice ambience and good food. Very nice atmosphere and theme. The staff was very kind and sociable.
