Basic family room, a bit tired but clean. Room needed some updating but nice to be in the park and had pre-booked as the lodges sell out. Free shuttle bus service around the park from outside the reception/cafeteria building. Great for sunsets and rises. Had also prebooked El Tovar restaurant for dinner in advance and a helicopter ride tour of the canyon the following day.

Plan ahead and don't miss this wonder of the world. Less than 10% of visitors see the alpine north rim which lies an additional 500 meters above the south rim. Step back in time into this timber lodge built in 1928, with a most impressive large dining room lounges and a courteous international staff who treat guest with white glove manners. Surrounding cabins in this wilderness, filled with amazing wildlife and here begins the Kaibab Trail North descending five thousand feet to the canyon floor and hike to the infamous Phantom Ranch. Keeping on pushing across the bridge of the mighty Colorado to ascend the south rim and complete the 27 mile day hike. Reservations are lucky to get one year in advance and this hike is NOT for beginners no matter your shape. Read the words of the those who have made this Rim to Rim hike to learn safe hiking, preparation hikes and packing necessities....only the necessities.

Long story short I kept stalking the reservations page to upgrade from outside the park to a motel room at lodge, to a Western Cabin. So happy I snagged one (about 2 weeks before our trip!). The cabin itself was clean and comfy. Didn't see any evidence of mice others have reported. Our cabin 355 was possibly the closest to the parking lot but with a great porch view of sunrise (but admittedly you can't really see rim so we had walked the grounds for sunrise). Such a great porch that I do regret a bit that we hadn't stayed another hour or two later just sitting there enjoying the quiet nature of it. ||Dinner in lodge was wonderful and fast. I highly recommend the Supai Pablano Chicken! My husband enjoyed his ribeye. And a few beers at the rough rider saloon were also great. But even better was that they opened at 530 for coffee to grab to watch the sunrise from the gorgeous patio or close walkable viewpoints.

We took my parents here for their bucket list. Everything was amazing! We went the end of September, a great time of year. The colors on the aspen trees were magical. Our cabins were great. Super cute and my parents literally woke up every morning and looked straight out the window at the canyon. All of the cabins are a quick walk to the most magnificent views. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food at the Lodge was really good, I was impressed. The portions were a little too much, I wish we had shared plates a few times. You definitely won't leave hungry. Thank you so much to everyone for making a truly special trip for them. My parents advice, don't wait until you are old. Go see the Canyon now.

The lodge itself is beautiful! The motel room, well, I guess that's why it's called a motel. For $170 a night, we got a queen bed with NO mattress pad, a flat sheet on the bottom that didn't want to stay in place, a top sheet and a blanket that looked like it was from 1986. No bedskirt, no bedspread. Weird. The room itself was clean. It's a motel in a National Park and they aren't relying on your repeat business so what do you expect? Set your expectations low OR better yet, bring you RV and stay in the luxury of your own space. The RV park looked like the way to go! The North Rim was beyond amazing to see! The lodge had a nice resturant and amazing views.

SUPER cool place. The main lodge is breathtaking overlooking the grand canyon. There are nice chairs along the porches to sit and stare in amazement. The actual room are not much to brag about. No AC. No TV. I know you aren't there for TV, but I am just providing information. It was pretty warm when we were there. So AC would have been nice. We only stayed 1 of the 2 nights we booked. I HIGHLY recommend the North Rim. Less crowded and much cooler temps.

We have been to the south rim twice and it has been a bucket list item to visit the north rim, met all expectations. We stayed in one of the Frontier Cabins. (I had read many reviews of mice, cold water, no heat, noise so I was wary.) These are old buildings but we found the beds, one double, one twin, comfortable, heat and hot water plentiful. All was extremely clean, bathroom tight but tile in perfect condition. We could hear the adjoining neighbors at times but the community of visitors seem to be a quiet, early to bed crowd. I would not bother with a canyon view room. We spent non hiking time sitting on the porches-perfect!! Check in begins at 4pm. For some reason, everyone waits in a crazy long line. I don’t know if people are hoping for upgrades. We just waited till there was no line and checked in.

We stayed in a frontier cabin. It was cute, like summer camp. It was small, which is fine as you're really just there to sleep at night. However, be forewarned that you share a wall with another cabin, and you can hear EVERYTHING. My biggest problem was the food, or should I say, the lack there of. We were there on a Sunday. We went to get dinner early, maybe 5:30, at the deli. It's a limited menu to begin with, but they were out of macaroni and cheese, chicken salad sandwiches, pork, and you couldn't get a whole pizza because they were out of dough and cheese. We ended up getting hotdogs and the black bean soup, which was awful. We liked the saloon, but they have almost no food, and frequently only had one person working. Plus, they're supposed to open at 5:30, and they didn't open until after 6.The dining room is great, but you need a reservation way ahead of time, and the food is expensive. However, the service and the food was fantastic. You can't beat the location or the views from the lodge, but the food situation is horrible.
