Gateway Hotel & Conference Center - Hotel in Ames - 2100 Green Hills Dr, USA

Updating my old review: This will once again become my favorite hotel in the area. The newly updated rooms are a nice change of pace and I found all of the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The gateway has done a good job bringing things up to speed and I will be returning.

This hotel met my expectations. It has very spacious, clean and modernly equipped rooms. There is a plenty of space in the bathroom for your toiletries. I don't like the option of one your breakfast for only one person in the room. I had a small problem with the heating in my room but they quickly moved me to another one

Positive: Great location, adequate parking, and clean rooms. They have an excellent restaurant. I used room service and it was the best burger I think I have ever had! Don't forget to get the Cy-Fries! Great pool!! Negative: No free breakfast offered. The bed wasn't as comfortable as some that I have slept in.

My husband and I were in Ames for a wedding and to celebrate my/our birthday with my twin. The Gateway was near the wedding venue as well as the Iowa State campus. We had a wonderful stay. Like many hotels now, they do not offer daily room servicing, but we are accustomed to that - gotta change with the times! There was clear notification in our room that daily room Our room was spotlessly clean, well stocked, and with a very comfortable bed and linens.||When we needed it, we had very prompt service. Our remote for the TV didn't work, and the maintenance worker was at our room in five minutes or less to exchange it. We ran out of coffee to have for our second morning, and the front desk person said they'd bring it right up, and we knew they meant it. We told them we were just going out, so we'd stop at the desk to get it. They had it ready and waiting for us. All the staff was so friendly and helpful.||Our room had been recently updated, including the bathroom, and we loved the convenience of a huge vanity with plenty of room for makeup, etc. The shower was large and elegant, unique in several way, including the ability to switch from a rain shower head to hand held. We loved the barn door effect on the bathroom.||We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant and cocktails in the bar after we returned from the wedding. Savannah, the bartender, was friendly and served us some drinks of her own design. Wait staff at both meals did an outstanding job.||Overall, we had a simply wonderful stay. Our only recommendation would be to have both elevators running, but even with just one, it was not a real inconvenience. We'll be back and highly recommend the hotel, restaurant, and bar.

Positive: The room was good,but there was no staff to clean the room and replenish the towels and pick up the trash. We had to leave the towels and trash outside the door,wasn't picked up every day.And we had to go to the desk and get towels,trash bags and coffee. Negative: No service to room.

Came to stay at Gateway on 12/1. Megan was very polite & helpful upon checking in. Room was better than I was expecting. Very clean, granted it took me a few minutes to figure out the shower (very nice!) Look forward to staying here again!

I decided to extend my weekend in Ames; originally staying at a rundown hotel on the other side of town which left a lot to be desired. I switched to the Gateway for my last night and was more than impressed. Upon check in, the agent at the front desk was incredibly helpful and kind. She knew a lot about the property and answered all of my questions before I even had to ask them. The lobby is very spacious, and I really appreciated all of the ISU decor. The room itself was very clean. Everything seems to have been updated very recently. The furniture is contemporary. I especially loved the rain shower. Although the water never got very hot in the shower. I was OK about that because I used the hot tub several times and that felt very luxurious. At night, I was impressed by the mood lighting in the room. Very nice touch! I also really enjoyed the rustic feel around the property. The grounds are well maintained. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

This was thee cutest hotel in the area, we came for w show at the theatre hall on the university property, and our favorite part aside from clean rooms was the staff at the hotel bar. Savi and Sonya were so sweet and welcoming and talented that we didn't go to another local bar like we planned. Thanks for the stellar stay, throughout 🙂
