I'm new here, but this is my favorite beach in LA so far! The park/Beach is huge, with plenty of parking as well as a dedicated RV park. Plenty of fire pits to hang out at. The waves are beautiful and the planes fly right overhead. It's just about in the middle of the bike path so I like to come for the all day parking and take off in either direction.
What a great time for someone from Toronto like myself. Dockweiler Beach in Los Angeles is a hidden gem along the Southern California coastline, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. What sets this beach apart is its well-maintained fire pits, allowing visitors to enjoy the beach even after the sun dips below the horizon. The campfire spots at Dockweiler Beach are an absolute highlight, providing a cozy setting for friends and family to gather around, roast marshmallows, share stories, and experience the true magic of a beachside bonfire.
The beach is blessed with breathtaking sunsets, making the campfire experience even more enchanting. As the sun sets in a blaze of hues, the flames from the fire pits dance in harmony with the twilight sky, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. The warm, golden tones reflecting off the waves and sand add a touch of romance and tranquility to the overall ambiance. The sunsets at Dockweiler Beach are a photographer's dream, capturing the transition from day to night in the most spectacular fashion.
Dockweiler Beach also offers ample space for various outdoor activities, making it a popular destination for beachgoers seeking adventure and relaxation. Whether it's volleyball matches, picnics by the shore, or simply soaking up the sun's rays, the beach provides a perfect backdrop. Families and friends can engage in beach games, cycling along the bike path, or even flying kites, creating lasting memories against the backdrop of the vast Pacific Ocean.
The beach is well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample parking, making it accessible and convenient for visitors. The availability of firewood vendors nearby ensures that the campfire experience is hassle-free and enjoyable. The friendly beach staff further add to the pleasant experience, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
In conclusion, Dockweiler Beach is a treasure trove for those seeking an idyllic coastal escape. The campfire spots and stunning sunsets are a match made in heaven, providing a magical setting for cherished moments with loved ones. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to LA, Dockweiler Beach offers a beach-going experience that is unforgettable and uniquely Californian.
$9 parking
Only place in LA to sit at a bonfire on the beach.
Visited mid-October on a Sunday and secured our spot by noon. There were still many other open pits. They were all full by sunset.
Airplanes fly right over head but aren't too loud.
Many vendors for ice cream, food, and firewood walk by.
Bathrooms have toilet paper so that’s enough for me.
I left a 5 star review few days ago upon entering. WRONG. If you've seen the movie ZERO DARK THIRTY, they torture a guy who knows where bin laden is hiding. Playing death metal rock 24/7 not allowing him to sleep. This is close to staying at Dockweiler. LAX flight path goes over rv park. Planes every 3 minutes 24/7. Park is very clean and maintained. Staff very friendly. 3 min walk to ocean. Bring EARPLUGS or XANAX to sleep.
The fire pits are great and it's a wonderful way to an enjoy a day/evening at the beach. But the parking is a bit pricey ($14) and it can sometimes get very difficult to find a parking spot (especially on weekends). Definitely reccomend you get there early (around 7am) if you want to lock down a fire pit on a weekend. The pits are also a bit close together, but the people are typically friendly and a lot of regulars. If you have a tent, highly recommend you bring to shade yourself, especially on those really sunny days. I just wish there was better parking and more pits.
I had a great time sitting on the beach on a long layover in Las Angeles. The ocean was a little wild on that day but did not disappoint as I love hearing the waves Crack. The planes taking off over the beach is just an added bonus. The beach had a lot of liter, but that's because humans suck.
Great public spot to see and touch the ocean without trespassing on private property in Las Angeles. $7 to go visit. That being said the beach is covered in trash. I’m sure the water is sickly and would never go swimming there. Just glad the trash is on the beach and not in the water for the poor sea creatures. I did see public biffy’s.
One of the rarest beaches in Los Angeles area where you can visit with your four legged friends. We drove about 45 minutes from Glendale with almost no traffic on Sunday and were surprised to find the beach not too crowded which was just perfect for having a relaxing time with our 3 dogs who could run and have fun without bothering others.
The water was super warm unlike in other beaches we usually visit and the sand was somewhat clean. You could see some seaweed thrown on the beach but not so much to bother.
Overall it was a great experience with the dogs and I definitely added to my favorite spots to visit.
