Very disappointed! We had previously stayed here about a year ago and had a great experience this time it was terrible. The check in was fine. The room was a highlight with a good bed but housekeeping needs to pay attention to details especially the fire sprinkler is coated in dust. Our breakfast experience was terrible! We arrived and a woman was seated at a table watching her phone and looked liked she had just rolled out of bed. Hair a mess, pajama pants and bare feet in sandals. Come to find out she actually was the breakfast attendant!!! She never acknowledged we existed. The only plates available were small appetizer looking plates that our waffles hungover the edges on. After we were done that’s when she got up and decided to add regular sized plates to the buffet while slamming cabinets in disgust because she had to do something. We didn’t even know she worked there until she opened a cabinet. We weren’t talking badly out loud about the situation she was literally just not paying attention. I honestly was shocked that she was an employee of the hotel not a traveler like us. We just skipped eating at the hotel our second morning. The only time a person was ever at the desk is when we checked in. Another new was housekeeping knocking on our door the morning we left to ask us how long before we were leaving. I’m guessing he was planning his cleaning pattern but knocking on a guests door is just odd. There are lots of choices for hotels in Ames and this one is no longer an option for us.

Was in town for a wedding and had a flawless stay at this hotel. Great breakfast bar: eggs, bacon, waffles, and fresh fruit! Add 2 hard-working Country Inn employees who kept the food coming and the tables fastidiously CLEAN! Did I say BACON? Lots of bacon..... Nice place to spend a weekend.

We were traveling from Nebraska to Wisconsin and stayed here one night. We had a beautiful King Suite with whirlpool. The staff was friendly, the lobby warm and welcoming, and the price was excellent. I highly recommend it. Keep up the good work, Country Inn and Suites!

Ok, first world complaint here...we paid $275-$300 per night for a king room during an Iowa State football weekend. The room was clean, but furnishings were very, very tired. Office chair was shredded (see pic), lounge chair stained, bedding thin, and carpeting worn. Our breakfast the first morning was decent, but the second morning only cold breakfast was being offered because staff didn't show up. It's possible hot breakfast was served later, but we didn't stay to find out. This hotel definitely is not worth the money.

Traveler beware!! I have stayed at this location twice and both times they double billed my credit card! Unfortunately, the first time I did not catch it and they got away with it. This last time, when my husband checked out and we requested a printed statement, he was told that the printer was broken. He was told that the invoice was being sent to my phone. I never received anything on my phone. When my credit card statement arrived, I saw that the hotel had posted two charges for a one night stay. I called them to discuss the extra charge and they told me that I had only been charged once. There were clearly two charges posted and I had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. In the end, the extra charge was credited back to my account. I understand that mistakes can occur but I find it extremely suspect that the mistake happened two times on two different stays.

Mattress was really firm. We had to ask the front desk for towels, as they were not restocked from the previous occupants. Location is great, easy in and out from major highways, and easy drive to South Duff for restaurants and stores. Breakfast was ok. They had waffles, eggs, bacon, cereals, yogurt and fruit. Would have liked a few more hot options, but overall it was good.

The hotel is in the midst of renovations, which are needed. Our desk chair was shredded, the comforters were extremely lumpy, halls were creaky. We found Simone else’s left over restaurant box in our fridge! Staff were pleasant and breakfast was good. But I doubt we will stay there again or any other Country Inn for that matter.

It is getting older, and I have noticed more wear and tear on the furniture and carpeting. They have a great swimming pool and hot tub though. It does get loud in the pool area with all of the kids -earplugs are not a bad idea :)
