Cleveland National Forest - National forest in San Diego - 10845 Rancho Bernardo Rd, USA

One of the most beautiful forest I’ve ever met, awesome landscapes, sunsets, lakes in the valleys, campgrounds around (hope next time I could get there). I really enjoyed this place to be away from city for a couple of days. I was there in late December, and it was chilly, around 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Just a small 1 hour hop away from lakeside is a play land of multiple levels. From three sisters falls hiking trails, to ponds and creeks that flow across the road. Carefull when driving Boulder creek which cuts from Descanso to Julian. The dirt Road is beautiful for sight seeing while passing through but is dangerous with on coming cars where the road narrows only wide enough for one vehicle. Slow and safe is key.

Hiking the Red Tail Roost Trail in Cleveland National Forest was amazing! It’s a peaceful escape with beautiful surroundings. Great for some out in nature.

The trail starts out pretty moderately, once you reach the Silverwood waterfall sign that's when it starts to get pretty intense as your pretty much rock climbing through the stream to the waterfall. I highly suggest high top hiking boots waterproof. Perhaps a change of socks. The hike gets pretty hard and although it does say that it's dog friendly, there are quite a few points that can be very difficult for your dog or even dangerous. My dog and I did not make it all the way to the waterfall because you either had to hoist yourself up a rope through the lower waterfall or climb a very narrow walkway to get to the waterfall. The hike was very exhilarating but at times it was questionable so you kind of just follow whoever's in front of you or create your own path. But it all pretty much leads today the same place so you can't get too lost. the hike was crowded so go early, also be aware of poison oak.

Nice but bumpy ride to Tenaja Falls Trailhead. Go slow if you have low clearance vehicle. About 1 hour west of Menifee, CA. in the mountains. Hike is about 20+ minutes from trailhead. Trail was very good condition with slight incline to falls area. Only went to top area. Don't know if there is a way towards bottom area.

Very greenery and beautiful scenic drive with tall pine trees, easy to park and lot of hiking trails, you can further go towards north to Julian and grab a nice lunch. Many places to stop by and see the scenic view. Lot of biking trails too and you will reach 5777 ft. There is a gift shop and lodge.

We have in our county one of the most amazing areas for hiking, exploring, and seeing one of the most beautiful national forests in the nation. We are so fortunate to have the mountains and beaches within 45 mins of everyone in San Diego.

The views are breathtaking! There are so many trails to choose from and explore. There is plenty of parking conveniently located near most trails. For those without a park pass, you can also find parking within walking distance of some routes. Don't forget to bring your sunscreen, water, and your camera.
