Awesome battlefield with a great visitors center. Lots of hiking trails, but also very drivable. Plenty of interpretive signs to help you follow the course of the battle. Visited in the fall and it was absolutely beautiful, especially Snodgrass Hill where George Thomas earned the name “The Rock of Chickamauga.” The park leans in very heavily on the legacy of Thomas and his XIV Corps so there’s plenty of acorn merchandise based off their corps badge which I think is a definite plus.

We went on a holiday, so there weren't a lot of people there. They offer a few ways to see the park. There is a self guided car tour that includes eight stops. You just use your phone to play the stories at each stop, plus there is some additional information for each stop on there as well. They also have a ranger led tour that only stops at three or four of the locations, but you get more details. There are also enough monuments and plaques to keep you reading for days. Lastly, the view from the tower is more than worth the climb.

This visitor center is well done. They have a large theater with a 26-minute film that's very informative. Their museum portion is impressive and includes over 300 rifles that were donated from a family. The guns take you through a long duration of time allowing you to see how technology has progressed over the years. This is a much larger battlefield than I expected. Amazing history. Recommended!

We weren't able to take the tour as we didn't get there at the right time. So we did the tour on our own it was fairly simple to do and really interesting. My wife and I have been to Vicksburg we've been to Gettysburg and many other battlefield this one has been done really well

Always great to see where history was made. Having visited numerous battlefields the last year I must say I thought I was in union museum. Shocking actually the extreme disparity of money spent on monuments for the north. I thought they lost this battle? Regardless if you look past feeling like you are seeing a one sided story once you leave the visitor center.

My daughter and I spent over $400 in their bookstore in two visits in September and October. We bought several books and she bought their entire collection of various miniature artillery pieces and cassion. We love this battlefield and have visited ot many, many, many, many times over the years.

Such an amazing place with so much history. We did the driving tour with phone commentary. It was a rainy day and directions on where to turn was not easy. But so much to see.

We loved the grounds and the place is steeped in rich history. The reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is that we were rushing to go to the visitor center before it closed at 5 pm, but the bookstore inside closes at 4:30 pm and they would not let us enter and it is buried in their website. We hope they update their hours and make it more visible so this doesn't happen to someone else who traveled a long way to see the sites amd bring home some mementos that would support the beautiful historical site they are trying to preserve.
