A dining institution in downtown Buffalo, Chefs offers mainstream Italian food. The lunch menu, although only a few items, is carefully chosen and offers very good value. Try the spaghetti parm, if you're looking for comfort food! The service is friendly, prompt and thoughtful. Inside, the restaurant is charming and comfortable. Outside there is plentiful parking across the street.
The wife and I took a trip to Buffalo to visit her sister and boyfriend. The one place they said we had to try was Chef’s. As a huge fan of Italian food, how could I say no. The restaurant ambiance was amazing. The walls were filled with pictures of past celebrities who had dined at Chefs. The staff were incredibly friendly and did a great job waiting our table. To start we had the fried calamari. Very crispy, the cocktail sauce was delicious, it was a very solid appetizer choice. For dinner, we tried the chicken parm with the spaghetti parmed. The chicken parm was good but not great. Personal preference, I like my cutlets thin and crispy. These were a bit more on the thicker side. The spaghetti parm is what stole the show. It was incredible. So creamy, delicious and had a ton of cheese. I was disappointed I didn’t order it as my full meal which would probably be my recommendation for anyone going to Chef’s. We finished the night with cannolis which were huge to say the least and had a generous amount of cream and chocolate chips. Overall it was a great experience and I hope to be back in town for some more Spaghetti Parm in the future.
We liked everything except for the person who served us.. felt like he was rushing everything with us. Pur lunch meal included coffee & sherbet. If I didnt ask for coffee he wouldn't serve it to us or even bothered asking us if we'd like.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Buffalo! We come here for every holiday, birthday, and special occasion, and the food is always great. The service is also consistently excellent, which makes it easy to return. Love this place!
Another great meal at this western New York icon. CHEFS is the place to go in Buffalo for a classic Italian lunch or dinner. Generous portions and great service.
My son and I had the penne special with artichokes and black olives. Dessert (peanut butter cheese cake) was also delish. Even the house red was good.
My only qualm is that prices have gone up...but then again so has everywhere.
Got a gift certificate from a friend.... And since I am not from Buffalo... I had no idea what a treat I was in for!!! An iconic piece of history, easy to find and with a huge parking lot! The food was delicious. The walls are covered with rich history of patrons, good Samaritans, veterans, celebrities, politicians with the founders and restaurant employees.
The Spaghetti Parm is the famous dish. I ordered the lunch Chicken Parm which came with a chef salad, coffee/tea and orange sherbert or ice cream or a mix of the two. Before all meals, bread with oils and spices are served and the bread is freshly baked in house daily!!! (It's SOOOOO good).
I also ordered the House Moscato wine which was, fresh, full of fruity flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.
I will be back and kudos to my friend who gave me a gift card and let me be pleasantly surprised! And it was TOTALLY affordable!
Strongly recommend for anyone near downtown Buffalo for lunch or dinner?
My server Kris Stonelli was incredible and you can't miss him (he is 6'10"). He was quick, professional, efficient and kind.
We were recommended this place by someone who lives in the Buffalo area. You walk in to a bevy of different sport stars and actors pictures in the wall. This place has a lot of character already and it would probably be much nicer without all the pictures on the wall. Regardless, the food was very good. Of course I ordered the spaghetti parmigiana which was delicious!! My daughter ordered the calamari rings which were ok but nothing to rave about. My wife ordered the veal parmigiana which was very tasty and a nice size piece of veal. All-n-all a very nice meal. The price was quite reasonable and the service was very good. Will be back with grandpa and grandma so they can try the unusual (but good) spaghetti parm.
First time here. Very good food, I had the Spaghetti Parmesan (small). It was very busy with a wait list when we arrived, which I think is the price you pay for great food on a weekend! We were told about 30 min wait by the hostess and decided to have a seat at the bar. The hostess had let us know that there was no bar service at the time but a different staff member noticed we had sat down and asked if we wanted to eat at the bar. We didn't mind and were served promptly.
The waitstaff was attentive despite the great volume of patrons. Friendly as well.
Def would recommend.
