Love this little city. Lots to see and do. Free hop on hop off trolley into Tampa and back. Awesome driver. Visit Nicole at the Tap bar (you'll love her-she has 64 beers on tap too) and don't miss the museum (wonderful docent and city history).
On a winter day, you feel like you're in NY or Washington DC. Beautiful.
So cute! Definitely a must see or you're missing out.
We enjoyed Centro Ybor more than downtown Tampa or the other surrounding neighborhoods we visited. The shops were small, super cute, eclectic and seemed like one of a kind places. Those are our favorite because they are actually interesting and hold items you won't find anywhere else.
We visited the area on New Years Eve in time to enjoy the parade on the main strip. When the parade came to an end, we popped into some cool shops and bar hopped the local establishments. Everything had it's own authentic theme, cool food menus and crave worthy cocktails.
Hookah bars, night clubs, Coyote Ugly, fine dining, casual dining, people of all ages and culture. We loved the artwork and public murals! What a treat it was visiting this city.
Love Centro Ybor. If you are visiting Tampa you must go here. Lots of restaurants and pubs, handmade cigar, entertainment and in particular, home of the famous Columbia Restaurant.
Ybor city is just a small area near downtown Tampa mainly on 7th Ave. heavily inspired by old Cuban culture. Over the years during the weekends it is a hot bed of poor quality people, criminal activity and drunken fights that led to murder sadly. Tampa needs More police 🚓 and cameras during the weekends if they want it to stop. I recommend only visit during the weekdays and avoid weekends, mainly Friday and Saturday after 6pm. Hope that helps.
Love walking around to see new artwork and stores. Could be more crowded on weekends.
Went to the 12th annual tree lighting at Centro Ybor and what a great event! They did a great job with the entertainment which included singing and dancing (both hip-hop and classical ballet, performing a nice excerpt from The Nutcracker), a guest appearance by Mayor Jane Castor and Santa too! The snow falling on the newly lit tree was a nice addition!
Everyone who is vacationing in Tampa should take the free trolley to Ybor City and dine at the Columbia Restaurant **Make a reservation as it is always crowded** I recommend the 1905 salad, it is fabulous! This is shareable unless you order the 1/2 salad. Also they have Flamenco dancers at times, so I encourage making an inquiry as to when they perform. There is also a 9/11 memorial that everyone should see, very well done. There are also comedy shows and more at various times. I recommend you search for current events when you go.
