We tried the red london fog and the eggnog latte and LOVED them. Their social media is great which led us to come in! The atmosphere is definitely awkward as the drink pick up area is not in the best location. Also wish there was more seating.

Stopped here on the commute back from work. The staff was friendly and explained how they weigh out their ingredients. The interior design was very chic. The Cortado and Lavender Oat Milk Latté I ordered were... PHENOMENAL!!! Probably the best Cortado I've had in some time. The crema on it was absolutely perfect. I had them add a touch of caramel to sweeten it up a bit. This is my new favorite!

Burgie’s has the best coffee in Ames. Their coffee doesn’t make me super jittery and it has a nice, smooth taste. I usually get a vanilla latte except for when there’s special syrups (like pumpkin spice or rose, etc). Drinking their coffee is enjoyable! Not to mention that their food tastes great too. I always get their Country Grind sandwich. It’s really filling and always comes out very hot! My partner always gets the Farmers Burrito and it’s also delicious. The price is great for the quality of food and coffee. Definitely try it if you have the chance!

I would have nothing bad to say if the quality of food, service and wait time hadn't experienced a sudden decline. At first, Burgies was producing delicious food and pretty good coffee but the food quality, especially when it comes to the biscuit, has gone down. Not only that, instead of the 4 or 5 minute wait I've been used to it's turned into 10 or 15 minutes! Especially with the longer waits good product and good service helps with the rate of return, when I've waited 15 minutes and get wordlessly handed the things I've ordered(at a quality lower than what I've come to expect) it doesn't make me want to return... why ruin a place that was a go-to?

A cute little shop! Pretty large menu with a lot of food options. I got an iced latte with caramel and hazelnut. It was really sweet and I couldn’t really taste the espresso. I wish I would’ve added an extra shot. The employees were really nice and helpful! Overall, I enjoyed my experience.

16oz hazelnut latte, iced, with a dash of cinnamon, but hold the employee attitude. Burgies at Southgate is a generally well designed coffee shop with some patio furniture inside for a soupçon of (ironic?) low budget chic. There are too many large tables and only a few single or double spaces. Coffee ranges from passable to above average quality depending on who is in charge of the pucks that day. There’s a young man that does all of the “this makes me a viral tiktok barista” unnecessary aesthetic flourishes and flashy tricks when pulling shots and always ends up pouring a gram of awful tiger stripe silt into every cup. Employees stare at their phones and talk about customers in derisive tones within earshot. They will stand around in groups staring at customers waiting at the register because “the person assigned to the POS” is apparently the only person that can operate the complex mathematics and touch screen wizardry involved in ringing up an order; and that person may be away from the desk on break, or in the bathroom, or perhaps out to lunch. Many of them can’t even explain the menu or a basic history of the company, like it’s en vogue to not know or be ignorant while representing the business. It’s never a good look to (barely) explain the flavor profile of a coffee blend by reading the bag in front of the customer asking. Professionalism and work ethic pick up when the owner is on site, but it shouldn’t require his presence to do that. I have enjoyed the coffee here for almost a decade, especially the years when Luke was pulling shots, but those days are gone and the customer service has taken a notable hit since then. Order something to go and enjoy it somewhere away from The Plastics behind the counter.

Burgies is a unique setting tucked into the same building as a gas station. This is Iowa though. We are open to what can be in a gas station! The coffee shop is tucked to the side so there are no feelings of being in a gas station/convenience store. My friend insisted we order the Country Grind sandwich because it's "the best" and she wasn't wrong! It was as delicious and beautiful! We were able to grab a seat next to the fire place and make breakfast extra cozy. She ordered a Cherry Lime Kombucha and I ordered a hot chocolate which I've had countless times before from Burgie's. It's always perfect. The staff are always friendly too!
