I took my son here for Comic-Con 2023 and was not disappointed. We were able to purchase military tickets right at the gate without any issues and were able to walk around for hours enjoying the convention. They make the aisles in the convention extremely wide not only for the crowds but for ease of access for those in wheelchairs. The venue is completely wheelchair accessible, and the bathrooms are super clean. The price of one adult ticket was $40 but with a military discount, it came down to $30, and children 10 and under were able to get in for free. The BJCC Convention Center does offer a parking deck which I would suggest you use. Street parking around the BJCC can cost up to as much as $20.
We went for O'REILLY WORLD OF WHEELS car show. Excellent facility and location. Parking was $30.
Need to breathe is awesome and downtown has truly been uptown for us. I felt very safe and the area is great to park and get in. Well lit. Great people. Great security.
The convention center was clean and large. Easily accessible. The staff was friendly. Parking was $20. The reason it only got 4 stars. We went to Brickfest which was a complete waste of money. I didn't judge the convention center based on that. Brickfest was a zero stars event.
From my first World of Wheels to the 2023 Alabama Comic Con, BJCC has never failed as an event venue. If you want to have an indoor event or concert in the Tragic City, this is the place.
We were there for the Matt Maur and We the Kingdom Christmas Concert. We were there very early, but saw a line already started so we joined. As it started moving we were passed through security and tickets scanned before we realized we had gotten in line for the meet and greet. The situation was handled in a very friendly and professional manner. The staff made sure we were remembered and passed through with minimal fuss and acknowledged with smiles when leaving as well. The concert pairing of bands, acoustics, lighting and atmosphere were wonderful. The seating was the smallest bit cramped on leg room, but comfortable. Parking was plentiful and close by, and the $20.00 fee was worth it. Concessions were reasonable, service with a smile. A delicious saucer sized soft pretzel and 20 oz bottled soft drink was $15.99, but be prepared with a credit or debit card as parking and concessions were cashless.
This was my first time going to the World of Wheels in AGES! Everything was basically the same just pricier 😅. WAY more kid vendors than I cared for. After spending $62 on airbrushed faces(they were awesome though!)my kids found something at literally every turn. So we were constantly having to tell them no they couldn't have this, that, this and that, etc.. They really enjoyed meeting War Machine! The picture we had made with them was completely blown out from the flash but at least it was just $5 and I had taken a picture myself. I might have missed it but I would have loved to see just the generic World of Wheels tshirts. I would have definitely bought one for the kids! It would have been nice to not have to pay an adult ticket price for my 12 yr old but, it is what it is I guess.
All in all a good time was had and we will definitely go back.
This place is absolutely amazing!!! Birmingham is definitely the place to live if you enjoy long walks under bridges and overpasses. Our city leaders have gone to great lengths to stimulate growth.
Whether you are at the "Visitor Center" or the "Public Bathe", Magic is in the air!!! As long as "magic" is defined by automotive emissions, Smog, Or the various other assaults on your senses!!! Just make sure that you visit during daylight hours otherwise your "senses" will not be the only thing assaulted physically!!
This is truly a dream come true!! I would also like to extend a special "Thanks" to "Gee", He was kind enough to wake up from his slumber, unzip his tent, and provide us with directions to the nearest On-Ramp!!! Thank you, "Gee"!!! And we promise to stop and have a "Sip" with you if we ever accidentally get off the Interstate there again!! Good luck and God speed my friend!!!
