This review may be skewed because of timing and mainly includes the playground portion of the grounds. Went to Binder Park zoo for the 4th. Came into town for dinner and wanted to hit up the park before the drive back to GR. Playground equipment and surrounding grassy areas were almost filled with homeless folk and trash. Both can be explained easily. Trash was probably from a previous event that week. Understandable. Same for the homeless folk. They don't have a place to go, public park is a place to go. Just in an attempt to make those less aware that these things can be noticed. A park cleanup after an event can fix the trash. Due maintenance on the grounds can solve some more problems. Homeless folk are a gray area. (A discussion I'm not going to go into)

Fun venue with great acoustics. When they don’t have a show, it’s a fun park to walk around. They have a playground for kids and a little walking bridge with benches around the little stream. Right in downtown Kalamazoo so you can walk to numerous breweries, restaurants and shops

Attended the Ribfest and it was the largest crowd I've ever seen in that area. The 90's party was quick. Too many tents were blocking views in several different spots. And the tickets to purchase alcohol should've been in the same place as the wrist bands. We also, should've been notified when purchasing alcohol tickets, to mention WHEN they were shutting it down. We purchased $25 in tickets and couldn't use them. SO UNORGANIZED!! The best part was The Johnsons Ribs. Though we stood in line for over an hour, it was worth it in the end.

The reviews are probably skewed based on whether you visited for the park itself or for a festival/gathering. I went for a music festival & it was very clean, well maintained, & safe. There's a parking garage that's well lit & fairly reasonable less than a block away. However, the city itself (like many MI cities) has definitely suffered from the economic downturn. I wouldn't go wandering around the downtown or some of the other areas of the city at night or after partying at a music festival but that's just common sense! Props to the vibrant individuals still bringing art & music to the city!

Close to the Kalamazoo free museum, lots of events are held there and it's a gathering place for people of all kinds all the time. There are some dangers as with anywhere. It's also close to the homeless shelter. This park gives them somewhere to go when they can't be at the shelter. A lot of them are nice and would give the shirts of their backs if you need help. Just to bad they will be closing the park and tearing it out. They should let the homeless work the events to help them get experience and allow them to help better themselves and theirs community.

Beautiful evening for a walk with my wife in downtown Kalamazoo which included a very short stroll into Arcadia Creek Festival site. We didn't stay do to the large volume of homeless people and yelling amongst them that made us uncomfortable. Update: if your attending an organized event here, it's a great venue in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo.

Nice open park, great for smaller events such as concerts. On an average day however, cute little playground and water features for a hot day with the kids.
