This is a gem and needs a bump from all negative reviews.
The staff was very attentive and polite. The general manager Ajay was also very easy to talk to and explained all the dishes patiently. Overall, great quality of food.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon lunch buffet.
The only complaint that I have is, the restaurant gets super crowded and hard to get to the buffet. So please plan around and not go during the peak lunch time.
The ones that I liked particularly are
TANDOORI CHICKEN: 5/5
TAWA FISH : 4/5
White chocolate berry cake: 4/5
Rasmalai: 4/5
The food is one of the better Indian food places in the city. A lot of them taste cheaper and use cheaper ingredients but this one tastes moire authentic and uses quality ingredients. However the prices here are 3x higher than other spots… he’s to pay $35 for a dish that may cost $12-$15 at another. However the food is still good and the atmosphere is very nice, also have an outdoor dining area
Fantastic lunch buffet! All of the food was fresh and delicious! The staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Ate way too much and enjoyed every minute! Highly recommend!
Great food. Service was challenging great location and atmosphere is quite noisy.
(1) Food is authentic and great quality (especially the breads)
(2) we went on a very busy day - the waitstaff was friendly and trying to do their best but was having challenges keeping up with the orders
(3) Location is super convenient as it is close to Moscone
I have been to this restaurant and love their food and will be back.
I must have been to the wrong Indian restaurants before bc I didn’t like any of them. But this restaurant totally changed my perceptions on Indian food. Every dish was delicious and well made. The goat, spinach salad and butter chicken were the best I have ever tried compare to other ones I had before. The restaurant decor was very elegant and the atmosphere was very warm and inclusive. we had a big group but everyone had a great time!
Phenomenally flavorful Indian spice duck confit. Entire duck drumstick and thigh, unique tapioca root mash, and loose saffron rice. Wonderful.
Clean, amazing service, and so kind and patient with explaining the difference options with us and our daughter who is new to trying new foods. We were traveling through San Francisco and we'll be back the next time we return. Thanks for a memorable and incredible dining experience!
Ordered masala papad, roasted papad, seekh kabab, tandoori paneer, saag paneer, dal tadka, cheese naan, garlic naan, pesto naan, mint raita. 15% gratuity and 5% SF employee charge automatically added to the check.
Pros
-nice ambience
-unique dishes. Nicely decorated and well served.
-nice bar.
-not too much wait time
Cons
-exorbitant prices. Be prepared to pay atleast $50 per person. For a party of 4 we paid $200 and that too without any drinks and dessert.
-we ordered 1 roasted papad and 1 masala papad. They brought 4 pieces of roasted and masala each. When asked, they were like this is 1. 1 means 1 order and not 1 quantity. They didn’t care to clarify this is advance. Felt like a big loot. Ridiculous.
-we had passport app discount of 20% for Amber which they refused to accept/honor.
-food was bland and flavorless. Nothing like real authentic indian flavor.
-appetizers are costlier than main dishes.
-waiters were always in a hurry even when taking our order. They were hurrying us. They were like “make it fast we need to go to another table”.
-very small table for party of 4. Brought all food at once so there was no space left on table. Had to take appetizers in our plate all at once and give dishes back to make some space.
-no complimentary plain rice.
-very less variety of dishes even in the dinner menu. No traditional dishes like malai kofta, sham savera kofta, paneer chilly, paneer65 which are basic and given in an authentic indian menu.
-closes pretty early at 9:30 for being in SF.
Overall the vibe is just to make you feel rich and good about the ambience rather than focusing on service, food and value. Dining is well suited for filthy rich based on pricing and international community based on food taste. Maybe the bar experience might be better.
