Alegria Oceanfront Inn & Cottages - Bed & breakfast in Mendocino - 44781 Main St, USA

This was our third time staying here and we always love it! The location is perfect, it has a pathway down to the beach and is also within walking distance to everything in downtown Mendocino. Our first two stays were in the off-site Village Farm Retreat but this time we stayed in the main house. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was so delicious every morning no matter what it was. We woke up to the smell of bacon and enjoyed some coffee on the back patio enjoying the view. It was really quiet at night too. Highly recommend staying here, we can’t wait to come back.

One of the best places I have ever stayed! I almost don’t want to leave a review so I can keep it off the radar, but that would be a huge disservice to this amazing inn! So I’ll brag instead! From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with the fresh ocean air and the nicest staff, who are willing to help you with whatever you may need. They have ice for your coolers, chairs for the beach, breakfast in bed, and every amenity you may need during your stay. The most special part about this inn is the access to the beach. You pass down a beautiful path with wild blackberries to eat along the way-down to the shore where there’s lots of seashells and critters, and good vibes to be had! The water is perfect for swimming because it’s exactly where the river and ocean meet-so it’s not too strong-with no large waves crashing. The inn is perfectly situated so you can get to downtown/main on foot. There’s lots of fun stores to poke around in and some good food choices as well. Most importantly-as a single woman traveling solo, I felt completely safe and at ease. And as a solo traveler was welcomed warmly to the inn and the surrounding area. You just HAVE to stay here. You will be so so glad you did❤️

We stayed in the Aloft room which is the entire 2nd floor of the Raku House. We loved it! It’s a huge space with cheerful yellow and blue walls and a really sweet nook that’s great for reading and a window with a distant view of the ocean. The carpet on the stairs leading up to the room was discolored but the carpet in the room itself was fine. The room had a large sturdy table, good for breakfast, journaling and playing games. Knowing there was no TV in advance, I brought some card games and puzzles and we had great fun! The room had many thoughtful touches like a small bottle of wine and small pieces of bedside chocolates. At the time of booking, we were asked about some preferences regarding in-room amenities and upon entering the room found that the innkeepers had fulfilled the requests for cookies, ground coffee, hot chocolate and tea bags and even our preferred sweeteners, so thoughtful! A light breakfast was delivered every morning with coffee, orange juice and something hot. One day we got potato pancakes with chive cream cheese, and the next day we got crepes with honey. The portion was small and was devoured in 3 bites but very delicious, so I can imagine the full breakfast for the guests at the main property must be really good. On those days the light breakfast was just right because we had room for baked goods at the Garden Bakery and Good Life Bakery (our favorite bakeries in Mendo). On the final morning of our stay, the hotel provided 4 delicious cranberry orange muffins, which was quite filling and allowed us to get going to our next destination without delay.|The property has very nice gardens, and they had complimentary tickets to the Mendocino Botanical Garden for guests who stay 3 consecutive nights in May. We really appreciated the tickets and had a wonderful time touring the beautiful Botanical Garden.|The property is within walking distance to all restaurants (Mendocino is a small town), there is parking by the back door that leads to the stairs to our room. The main house has beach access the guests can use, but we preferred parking behind the Presbyterian Church next door and using the beach access from there as we had chairs/coolers and the path is wider. The Wi-Fi worked fine for checking emails and some light web surfing.||We had a really comfortable and relaxing stay and would definitely book the same room again on our next visit!

Amazing stay at the Alegria Inn. I came just for a day, but all the staff, innkeepers, and owner were very professional and accommodating. Location was very clean and good attention to detail on all the small things. I originally was staying in Village Farm Retreat but they gave me the option to upgrade to Driftwood cottage. The natural lighting and feel of the room was great and was an unexpected surprise to the end of a long vacation/travel trip. I think there is a lot that comes into being a good host, with intentionality and simply just caring. I felt very welcome and comfortable and will definitely come back and recommend Alegria to my friends and family.

We stayed in the Cove Cottage and absolutely loved it. The breakfast was delicious every morning, and it was so lovely to have an easy walking path to both the beach and downtown Mendocino. Stay here!

We really enjoyed our stay. The room (the Sea View) was small, but the view was remarkably beautiful. Sitting on the balcony was a visual pleasure. The breakfasts were delicious, and the breakfast room also has a great view. I would recommend this place to my friends, and we will definitely book it the next time we return to Mendocino.

We were deciding between staying at Alegria vs a cheaper option and I’m so glad we chose Alegria!! It surpassed all our expectations! My only regret is not staying here longer. The rooms are very clean, and one of a kind; with wonderful artisan touches throughout. The breakfast was impeccable - organic local juices, the hot chocolate used 3x kinds of chocolate and will blow your mind, chef Victor’s omelette is to die for. Several ingredients in our breakfast came from Allegria’s garden. The walk down to the beach is just magical and the beach itself is breathtaking. Alegria Inn exudes Mendocino Magic everywhere you turn and we can’t wait to return! P. S. I’d recommend asking the owner Eric the history of this Inn and the love story behind it. It’s a very moving story, and made Alegria Inn even more special to us.

This is the second time I've stayed here and it was even better than the first time. Eric and his staff were incredible. I stayed in Cove Cottage. The views are to die for and the proximity to the beach is nice. Breakfast was delicious. The window from the shower was my favorite! And of course the area's scenery is stunning. Thank you for a lovely stay!
