I spent a full day hiking this wonderful land this past May and found it amazing. The sheer size of it, and the lack of many trees makes it seem almost other worldly and I love the history of the area. I loved the cabin and tried to imagine how it would have been to have lived out there before the area became a National Park.

Incredible location and fantastic staff! Very helpful and genuine. The visitors center is clean and well organized and their information was very helpful to put you in touch with the location and all it has to offer. The native exhibit was one of the most respectful and informative and well thought out to show the entire history and plight of the times. Thank you!

A magical place. Great exhibits. Great staff. I did the hike up and back. It's actually paved. The drive, in from Scottsbluff, was also wonderful.

We drove way out of our way to visit here and it was so worth it. Not only is it a fascinating place to visit, but the people there were so nice. From the movie, to the displays, to the grounds it is a very well done site. I wish there were more places like this to visit. I am glad we went.

Had a great visit! Small visitor center, nice trails, very nice views, cute little gift shop area. Interesting historical information. The staff working the day we were there were extraordinary. Very friendly and knowledgable.

Enjoyed our visit last weekend! The weather was perfect for a hike so we did both trails. The trail to the fossil hills took us about an hour because we took our time and read all of the plaques and enjoyed the walk. Shorter trail took only 30 minutes and was quite enjoyable at sunset. We spent about an hour in the visitor center talking with the park ranger and enjoying the exhibits. Two of us completed our Junior ranger badge! It was a fantastic National Monument Visit and totally worth the drive.

Go for the fossils and accessible hikes, BUT do NOT miss the story of the long-term friendship between John Cook and Chief Red Cloud. The Cook Collection deserves so much time, Make sure you check out the herbarium to learn more about the native plants as well.

What a great find! There are some nice trails to hike, and a great little museum. Kids can earn their Junior Ranger badge here too!
