Zostel Dalhousie - Backpacker Hostel in Dalhousie, Kholi Kuffar - Chamba, India

It's with a heavy heart that I have to write this review but there are few pros and cons of this place, but my experience and my fellow travellers experiences on the day we stayed here on 18 and 19 of May were more on the negative side. The best part of this Zostel was the view. I absolutely loved it, and moreover the rooms were clean and dorms were well maintained. Despite few snails and slugs in the bathroom. Now coming to the cons, I had no idea this place was pretty far from the main city centre. Infact, after 6 once it starts getting dark we were stuck in the Zostel as we submitted our rented bikes and there is a serious bear scare in the area so rambling around in the dark is unsafe. But the main source of discontent was what happened on the second day of our stay. There was some issue between the management and the kitchen staff and the kitchen staff had an altercation and left the premises more like in a protest. When we returned to Zostel in the evening after submitting our bikes we were informed very late that dinner will not be served and we can go out and dine as per our convenience. I and four other zostelers were stuck in an isolated place without food and luckily a small shop just a few metres from Zostel agreed to cook for us and although it took a lot of time the old man saved us from starvation (god bless him for that ) Next day all of us together checked out from Zostel and went to the youth hostel in the city centre. I could discover places till 11 at night and I stayed 4 more days in Dalhousie staying in the govt hostel. I think this place needs to be a little more professional in its approach as even when I checked in I saw some petty argument taking place between management and other zostelers staying on the premises. Hope things will improve in future and other travellers won't face mismanagement issues from the management side

The location is splendid, right in the midst of valley. The stairs down the road to the hostel can be overwhelming for some, but the hostel staff were always there for help, especially in transferring of luggage. Manager, Mr. Pankaj is the nicest man, he is not helpful just in the property but he makes you feel comfortable in the city as well. Be it for calling cab services or being the tour guide.

I booked the Zostel dalhousie and my experience was better than 5 star hotel. The place comes with a amazing viewpoint. The zostel is very close to mall road and bus stand so there was not much hassle to explore local market. I got the chance to meet some amazing people coming from different states and know their experience. We all gathered in night and played lot of games and had lot of fun activities. The manager Pankaj was so awesome and down to earth. He took care of everyone needs and was there to look after everyone. Will definitely visit again.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Zostel in Dalhousie, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. One aspect that stood out to me was the helpfulness of the staff. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and provided excellent recommendations for places to visit and things to do. Whether it was suggesting the best trekking routes or helping me plan my day, they were always ready to assist. Speaking of treks, the Zostel team organized an incredible trekking experience for me. They guided me through stunning trails, allowing me to immerse myself in the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding nature. The staff members leading the trek were experienced and ensured the safety and enjoyment of everyone in the group. They shared interesting stories about the region, making the trek even more engaging. The overall atmosphere at Zostel was fantastic. I met fellow travelers from different parts of the world and had the opportunity to exchange stories and experiences. The common areas were vibrant and cozy, perfect for relaxing and socializing. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided a much-needed rest after a day of exploration. I highly recommend Zostel for anyone visiting Dalhousie. The helpful staff, coupled with their expertise in organizing treks, creates an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a solo traveler or in a group, Zostel offers a welcoming environment and excellent facilities. I can't wait to return to Zostel on my next visit to Dalhousie!

I had the opportunity to stay here for 5 days, and I must say, the moment I arrived I was invited with warm smiles. Pankaj bhai made me feel home throughout my stay, he takes guests on many short hikes, which is the highlight as I wanted to escape from crowd. Location of zostel is really good and peaceful except for the fact that it is 3km away from Gandhi chowk.

Stayed for 2 days in zostel. Staff was friendly and services were easily available. Good view with quiet neighbourhood. Food was decent but non-veg was just ok. Also washrooms could have been better too. Parking is on the roadside and there are stairs to travel to and from zostel which could be a little overwhelming. Make sure to confirm route once you reach main market of the town. Overall enjoyed the stay.

Well I planned on staying here for 2 days but ended up extending and returning, making it a total of 5 days of wonderful stay. The location is away from city, though a little far but that's the best experience. And the staff are extremely friendly and helpful in catering to their guests, keeping the place spotless and cooking nice meals for a pleasant stay. Special thanks to Pankaj and Aabheer for making the stay extremely joyous and peaceful at the same time. Highly recommending staying here if you wanna experience Dalhousie

Our stay at Zostel Dalhousie was great.... Rooms were clean, service was good, lots of games, cafeteria, were very creative. View was extra ordinary. The best part of this Zostel is Pankaj bhai who will take extra efforts to make your stay worthy and special.
