Wat Thai Sarnath Temple - Buddhist temple in Varanasi - Varanasi, India

Popularly known as the Thai Temple, the Hinayana Buddha temple was built by Thai dignitaries in 1933. It also has Thai designs and is prettily located amid lush green gardens. There is a statue of a laughing Buddha just before the main Thai temple. The premises is vast, lush green and also boasts a tall Buddha statue at the entrance with welcoming arches and Lily ponds at the entrance. There are many monks visiting the premises in the daytime to pay regards. The place is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Sarnath boasts its main temple attraction - a beautiful Buddhist temple with Thai architecture. The temple serves as the main worship place in the park, attracting many Buddhist monks and visitors alike. Adjacent to the temple stands a giant Buddhist statue, with two Buddha statues in total. Four Buddha statue adorn the complex e.g., 80 feet tall Buddha is in a standing position; laughing Buddha in front of main temple and an enactment of Buddha delivering a sermon to his disciples; and golden- colored Buddha. Environment of temple is peaceful, serene, and full of rich green gardens. Place is clean and well maintained with fountains and blooming lotus. Gardens feature various flowers and trees! There is no entry fee.

I visited there in August and lots of People from Thailand came here to visit. This temple is inside the Buddha park and there are Foundation, Huge idol of gautam buddh and Wat Thai temple existed. I was with my 3 brothers and say here about 1 hour. We also heir a guide who takes Rs100 and that was totally waste of money because the things he tells was a the history of Bauudh Sharma and I already real about it in broad way.......... thank You

It is just opposite to Sarnath museum on the other side of a road leading to Sarnath Stupa. You can see the beautiful and tall Buddha statue from the main road. From the road, you could observe that the Thai Buddhist temple is clean and well maintained. I did not go inside the temple
