Best place for one day trip. We started our journey from Mysore. It is better to reach in the early morning when it is less sunny and hot. it is better to climb and come down before 11. Because you have to visit another hill , it is best if you finish darshana as early as possible. Around 700 steps are there for Vindya giri and nearly 200 steps for Chandra giri. In Vindya giri famous Jain temple and tallest monolithic Gommateshvara statue is present and in Chandragiri 15 basdi are present.

One of the 2 hills in sharavanbelagola, the other bein chandragiri, it has a Jain temple on the top. You will have to leave your footwear at the base of your hill at a counter for which they charge rs.10 per pair or alternatively you can leave it in your vehicle and walk to the hill if you are parked nearby. The climb is easy, or at best moderate based on your fitness level. A good cultural heritage place, do plan on clubbing chandragiri hill which is just opposite to this place and has a few ancient temples on top.

Palanquin service is also available for the old aged or people with having problem climbing up to hill, It is hill completely made of rock. The steps are carved out Hill's rock surface. I didn't mind counting number of steps it had, people who aren't used of walking or moving around much will surely get out of breath till he reaches the top. Vindyagiri hillock is about 140km from Bengaluru and has the Bahubali statue at its summit. One has to climb barefooted up the 620 odd steps. At the foothills there is adequate space for parking, and nearby shops provide coconut water and refreshments.

Vindhyagiri is where Sharavanbelogola know as Gommateshware Bahubali is located. It is 144 kms from Bangalore. To reach the Gommateshwara we have climb around 600 steps. Carry water along with you. You will not get any thing onthe way or too of the hill. We have to climb bare food. So start early in the morning. The view from the top of the hill is fantastic, you will love. Spend some time on the top.

Reaching to the base of hill is dead easy by using own vehicle or train or bus. Climbing up and down takes hardly 1hour for both and spend much time on top of hill with your friends or family or beloved ones. Avoid going on heavy sunny day, sometimes we couldn't climb under very hot sun. After descending go to jain hall where free lunch is provided, have it and start your journey back towards your home :)
