Village tour, traditional food & trekking - Hiking area in Shimla - Shimla, India

We took this village tour with our Guide, Mr.Mohil Sharma. What an awesome and unique experience it was. The highlights of the tour: 1. The tour starts with around 6km of drive through narrow but well kept roads down the Naldehra valley to village Shamlog. The views of the valley are just fabulous. Lush green forests around. 2. Once you reach the spot, then there is around 200m walk through a walking path to the family's house. A unique walk that gives you the experience of how pahadi people go up and about to their houses built on hills. The owner of the house came to pick us up from the parking spot and told us about the village. 3. When you reach to the village house, the family welcomes you with warmth and smiles. You get the experience of seeing how organic their lives are. 4. You are treated to awesome awesome home cooked tea, buttermilk and traditional himachali food. Eating the dish 'Sidhu' was so awesome. All food prepared by the family with the ingredients and spices grown in their fields just beside their house. 5. You gain knowledge and see the beauty of organic farming. All vegetables and spices grown in the fields. 6. And the highlight of the tour - Our guide, Mr. Mohil. Delighted we met him. He told us about the history of Shimla, the area and specifically about the village Shamlog. He gave us such a good tour of the plants and herbs grown in the area. Described so much about the food, the trees, the forests and culture of the area. Gifted us pine cones to carry back. 5 stars to him. 7. Got some vegetable samples, seeds and a cute keyring from the family. We were so joyous to receive all these gifts. Thank you. I would just like to say - whenever in the area, do have this awesome experience. Worth every moment.

We chose this village tour to explore the Himachal country side. The drive, the walk and the food, all three were awesome. The guide Mohil is a delight. We three walked joyfully on the trails leading to a small village and then we hogged away the local delicacies served. We also got some 'mithi daal' packed for later. Food was super delicious. Must try if you are staying in Shimla or Naldehra. Sharing some pictures as well.

As you can see in the photos, Mr. Tarachand Sharma is the highlight of everything that you can do in Mashobra. He has the hospitality, knowledge and passion to introduce you to the fundamentals of life. And it is always refreshing to meet such individuals. He was so inspiring that I am making a youtube video about it.

Simply wonderful experience. Being from Himachal myself, it felt like home and we all totally enjoyed the hospitality in true Himachali style. Wishing best of luck in this endeavour of showcasing Himachal culture to all the wonderful fellow Indians who come all the way in search of peace and tranquility.

It has been one of the best experiences for me on the whole. Tarachand Ji is the best person to contact if you truly want to discover mashobra or himachali tradition. He accompanied us to the trek to Shali Tibba, the trek is beautiful and Tarachand ji made sure we understand every little detail of the plants, the trail and much more.The traditional food was truly so delicious and prepared with such warmth. I will come back again and again to experience it all.

I took the village tour in August and it was a surreal experience. Apart from the scenic drive and trail I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional himachali lunch served hot outside our hosts home overlooking lush green farms full of flowers and vegetables. Our Host Mr Tarachand has good knowledge of the local tourist places and was very patient while walking us through his organic farm and allowed us to sample his fresh produce. Must visit for those seeking a peaceful afternoon in nalderah.

We like the village tour very much specially the quality of food and behaviour of host family is very good. Tara Chand ji is really a very nice host and guide we thank him and his family for giving us meethi dal on our request at resort on next day also.
