The house is stunning and decorated with great taste. Don't forget to check the store: it has amazing gems. The food (breakfast/lunch/dinner) was tasteful. The staff is so welcoming and helpful as always in India. However, do not book the rooms that are in the front : there is a cafe around the corner that blasts music till late at night, ruining the peaceful atmosphere of this great part of the city. The hotel's owner can't do anything as the cafe's owner has "connections"... We tried to talk to the cafe's manager whom as a real jerk didn't care about our issue.
Extremely disappointing and awful food and drinks. We went here for lunch and got the pasta, cocktail and coffee. The chicken in the pasta was so bad and the drinks were extremely diluted. A cocktail was as good as water. The place is pretty but there were insects all over and ants feasting over leftover food. Glad they enjoyed their meal :)
Ordered the beef steak at Villa Helena and it was delightful! Perfectly juicy with the right amount of salt on the potato chips. Tried the New York cheesecake for dessert; it wasn't quite up to par, but the jam definitely gave it a saving grace. The staff here are both friendly and polite. Would recommend for a nice meal out!
Went there for an early dinner. The host old lady was way too rude!! She wanted us to order all food in one go, when we told her we would like to order after seeing the portion size. She was judging us for the number of dishes ordered. Not the place to go even if they offer free food any day!! Too much attitude. We had a better place to have our dinner. Never go to this place!!
Located in heart of White town, Villa Helena is a great choice to stay at old French style house. Aesthetically pleasing rooms are delight here. Probably the only Pet friendly place in the area, staff was also very welcoming. Limited food options and average taste was a little discomforting
Je n ai que du positif a dire sur la villa Helena - Personnel aux petits soins - La proprietaire Geraldine parle francais ce qui est un plus pour les francophones (souvent mauvais en anglais) - Ce sont les plus belles chambres que nous ayons eu en Inde pour le moment (nous y sommes depuis 1 mois donc nous avons 30 hotels avec qui nous pouvons comparer) - La literie est confortable, nous nous sommes perdu dedans tellement les lits etaient grands, les draps sont propres (et ca c est assez rare en Inde). - La salle de bain etait incroyablement grande, nous n avons pas du attendre 20 min pour avoir de l eau chaude, et c etait d une proprete impeccable. - L hotel propose tout une sorte de service supplementaire afin de nous faciliter la vie (un livre est mit a disposition dans les chambres pour nous conseiller les restaurants, les hotels, les choses a faire a Pondichery) - Ma femme a pu tester le massage (1 400 roupies pour une heure) et elle en etait tres contente. Le massage se deroule dans la chambre ce qui est un vrai plus. - le petit dejeuner est inclut (c est un petit dejeuner occidentale avec cereale, pain, confiture, oeuf, jus de fruits ...le jus d orange est incroyable ) donc un vrai bonheur pour ceux qui ne sont pas fans des petits dejeuners epices. - Il y a un restaurant a l interieur de la villa (ideal pour ceux ne voulant pas sortir apres une journee de visite). Le couscous marocain est delicieux. Il propose egalement des bieres (290 roupies). Je recommande vivement !
