Vikramaditya's Singhasan Battisi - Featured Reviews (1685)
I visited Vikramaditya Singhasan Battisi on a recent trip to Ujjain. I was impressed by the scale and beauty of the statue. The statue is well-made and accurately depicts the king's regal bearing. I also enjoyed the surrounding statues, which provide a glimpse into the king's court and the rich history of Ujjain. The site is well-maintained and clean, and the views from the top of the platform are stunning. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Vikramaditya Singhasan Battisi. It is a must-see for anyone interested in Indian history and culture.
Vikramaditya The Great Memorial StatueVikramaditya the Great was a legendary emperor of ancient India who ruled over the region of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh during the 1st century BCE. He is revered as a symbol of wisdom, justice, and courage in Indian mythology and folklore. To honour his legacy, a magnificent memorial statue was erected in his honour in the city of Ujjain.
King vikramaditya statue in ujjain Vikramaditya (IAST: Vikramaditya) was a legendary king[1][2][3] mentioned in ancient Indian literature, featuring in traditional stories including those in Vetala Panchavimshati and Singhasan Battisi. Many describe him as ruler with his capital at Ujjain (Pataliputra or Pratishthana in a few stories). "Vikramaditya" was also a common title adopted by several monarchs in ancient and medieval India, and the Vikramaditya legends may be embellished accounts of different kings (particularly Chandragupta II). According to popular tradition, Vikramaditya began the Vikrama Samvat era in 57 BCE after defeating the Shakas, and those who believe that he is based on a historical figure place him around the first century BCE. However, this era is identified as "Vikrama Samvat" after the ninth century CE.
Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh *Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga *Shaktipeeth Maa Harsiddhi Temple *Vikramaditya's Singhasan Battisi *Maharshi Sandipani Ashram Situated on the Malwa plateau, on the banks of the Shipra River(a tributary of Chambal river), Ujjain, popularly known as the temple city for its numerous temples from different eras, and the major attraction being Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, where Lord Shiva worshipped as an aspect of time eternal, fondly known as 'Mahakal', immensely popular among devotees. A unique ritual associated with the temple is "Bhasm Aarti" which begins every day at 4 AM. This ancient city was the capital of the Ancient kingdom of Avanti, which emerged as one of the sixteen mahajanapadas of 600BC in Bharat. Ujjain has been an ancient seat of learning where all disciplines of knowledge have flourished since time immemorial. Legendary kings, poets, astronomers, physicians, scholars, saints, and philosophers like Vikramaditya, Kalidasa, Varahamira, Bhartruhari, and their ilk were all from Ujjain. The city remained as an important political, commercial, cultural, and devotional epicenter of central India until the early 19th century when the British started developing Indore as its rival; as merchants of Ujjain had supported anti-British people. The Road from Bhopal to Ujjain is a four-lane highway up to Dewas bypass, thereafter road widening is in progress up to Ujjain (45km approx). While driving at night, drivers need to be extra cautious on this widening stretch because of too many road diversions, heavy traffic, tippers/bulldozers/trolleys driving on the wrong side, dazzling headlights of incoming heavy vehicles: some private buses/heavy vehicles have got obnoxiously high powered extra fitted blinding LEDs/HIDs as many as 3 to 4 pairs causing inconvenience.
Feeling proud at this place.... Jay Bhavani

Vikramaditya's Singhasan Battisi is the place where Chandra Gupta - 2, popularly known as Vikramaditya had his parliament. Ancient stones at this place still proves it's truth. According to legends Vikramaditya had 9 claver ministers in his parliament and 32 witches who used to give him right directions and paths to be great. He him self was the best of all time. To know more you must visit here and read the stories written on. I appreciate Ujjain Municipal Corporation for such a great work. This is very near to the Mahakaleshwar temple and you can visit here after Mahakaleshwar Darshan.
