Vatsalyam Home Stay - Home Stay in Shimla - Shimla, India

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Vatsalyam, a homestay in Shimla, and it was truly an incredible experience. The scenery was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Aseesh and his family, the hosts of the homestay, were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. The room and kitchen were exceptionally well-maintained and clean, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The homestay was located in a sub-urban area, which provided a peaceful and relaxing environment away from the noise of the city center. Aseesh and his family were always available to answer any questions we had and to provide us with recommendations for places to visit in the surrounding area. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the local culture and made us feel like we were a part of the community during our stay. The surrounding area was also very clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall feeling of comfort and relaxation during our stay. Overall, I highly recommend Vatsalyam to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful escape in Shimla. Aseesh and his family were wonderful hosts, and the well-maintained and clean room and kitchen made our stay even more enjoyable. We felt right at home and would definitely return in the future.

Stayed for 4 nights and it's perfect for family stay if all want to stay in same room and have a big terrace for self. Gives feeling of openness. Location is away from main hub but better for calm stay. Please take guidance of Ashish to reach the place and his family is a great host.

It was a perfect vacation for my family. We travelled in May-2022. It is a very clean and well maintained facility. Its on par with a 3 or 4 star hotel, but its a homestay as you are staying with a joint family. The view from the terrace is amazing , you practically see all of Shimla in one view. For most of the part we were at the facility only and enjoying the weather. You can do a few trek's nearby. The host Sharda's are very nice and kind people. They even aranged to have a small bday celebration for my kid. The food was the best part of the trip. They provide Breakfast and Dinner(paid extra), both the meals were awesome. It is home cooked by the host and is simply amazing. There is an amazing library at home, a personal collection of the family. Practical aspects- The facility is 4.5km away from Shimla centre (The Mall), so if you want to visit Mall daily you need a taxi or better you stay close to city centre The host is very helpfull to arange for any kind of taxi service (paid extra), in case you dont have any contacts. They dont provide Lunch , as the food is cooked by house ladies who also have a day job. but the host is helpfull in arranging lunch(paid extra) from a near buy kitchen , which again was good. There is hardly an eatery in walking distance from the facility. As you are staying with a joint family , there will be some basic rules to follow (same as your home)

Disastrous experience , a very unprofessional and unethical owner.. He can take your money and cancel the booking anytime leaving you with a surprise of staying on the road looking for another hotel If you want mid night surprises, than this could be your ideal hell to live in .. If we could i could have given 0 rating. The owner made the story of closing the property in duration of our stay which was clearly a lie and the funny thing was he cancelled our booking the time we were on our way from Chandigarh to Shimla with the expectation of the place being booked for us. Worst experience ever !!!!!!

If you want to opt for a Airbnb in Shimla, this is the best place for a stay. With no doubt, Vatsalyam has the most mountain facing spectacular view you'll get from your room. They have 1 service appt, 2 & 3BHK rooms as well. I opted for the service appt for a week. Its 5 KM away from the Mall road. As soon as we reached there was breakfast surved. The host Asheesh is a really great, friendly and helpful person. He'll help for everything be it recommending good places for visit/food/site seeing or be it anything. On the last dat, we were hosted by his family for dinner. Asheesh's family is also very welcoming and lovely. We had a great time with the entire family. Plus they have a lab dog too who is very playful. We stayed there for a week and it was very peaceful and relaxing stay. Everyday waking up to the view of mountains and pine tree was a bliss. This place is not less than a 5* place. I would recommend this totally. Its exp of a lifetime.

Love the view and charm of this homestay, Does not give you the routine homestay vibe at all. Property I found to be clean, inviting and downright classic! The host and family (Asheesh ji) was very friendly and consistently making sure I was comfortable. I will definitely stay there when I come back!

Place is very far from the city, so you will have to bear substantial transportation cost and inconvenience if you don't have your own vehicle there. No domestic help available for cleaning utensils etc Owner will become rude if you ask them for domestic help. He even can ask you to get out in the middle of night (we faced it) Please avoid specially if you are planning with your friends.

unbelievable service! The rooms are incredibly clean. They anticipate every need. The entire family goes above and beyond. They organized day tours for us. They were up at 5:30 am to provide a breakfast for us when we had an early morning excursion. They provided laundry service daily cleaning and served us tea during the day. Dinners were delicious. Conversation was interesting. We felt like part of the family. I would highly recommend this homestay
