The most intriguing and exotic archaeological site in whole of Eastern India. No one seems to know when these stone reliefs were made and who made them. The site is free to enter though there is stringent checking or bags to make sure food items are not sneaked into the protected site. There is parking available free of charge. Not a place meant for people with any sort of physical disabilities though there are benches located right at the start of the decent where people of limited mobility can see the reliefs and take some photos. There was a clean toilet for visitors but no kiosk to buy water or anything else. Carry packed food or granola bars etc as the nearest city is more than an hour away. Climbing down from the main entrance and climbing up the hill opposite gives one an idea of the immensity of this site. Was worth the trip and the innumerable steps, this site made an intense impression on me.

Literally translating to one less than a crore, legend has it that Lord Shiva cursed all accompanying gods to be turned to stone, as they did not wake up on time to continue their journey to Kailash mountains! So the rock carvings seen here are indeed gods and goddesses that have been cursed. Its a very ancient and well maintained site, by Archeological survey of India with a nominal gate fee. Your best bet is to take a train from Agartala (about 3 hours) or Guwahati (overnight) and alight at Dharmanagar. From here its about 45 mins drive (Taxis available from station for about Rs.700 to 1000 for entire trip) , so allow about 3 hours for whole experience and be ready to climb up and down some stairs for vantage views. Totally worth going there. Its a big plus that its set amidst some pristine forests.

One of the best archeological site in north east India. Trains are available from Agartala. Kumarghat is the nearest railway station. Then you have to rent car for Kailasahar..Government tourist lodge is available at cheap price, but not well maintained.
