Udayarpalayam Palace - Historical place in Udayarpalayam - Ariyalur, India

Very poor maintenance.... Can't even enter inside the palace... Now it's been restricted for visitors.... Some people around the palace use them without any maintenance.... I don't know whether this historical place is undertaken by the government because of the pathetic visuals of the palace even now....

The place looks good but I'm unable to go inside. Owner of Jameen mentioned visitors are NOT ALLOWED to go inside the places. So we can just see the place from outside. You just feel the surroundings from the Outside but unable to go inside.

To be maintained and to make popularize its historical background.

Udayarpalayam palace.A historical Royal palace. Now poorly maintained.

The palace is under ruin, Dharbar hall has been damaged with no roof, the sculptures around the Dharbar hall is beautiful. Palanquin in Dharbar hall is in good condition. The palace near the Dharbar hall is poorly maintained. The inhabitants of the palace didn't take steps to clean it. Chest old wooden bureau, wooden cot, Dressing table , big glass lamps are located inside the palace. Out side the palace watch tower, tanker can be seen. Government should take necessary steps to renovate the palace which is under the hands of ruin.

The place has gone to ruins. Fully taken over by the weed tree Juliforia Prosopis. Can not even step near by leave alone go inside. You can visit the Zamin Siva temple nearby, which was getting renovated during my visit. The temple is worth visiting (though people litter and destroy the appeal)

Udayarpalayam (located on Trichy-Chidambaram Highways, 85 KM from Trichy Airport) was under Zmindar rule and ruled by many kings in the history such as Early Cholas, Kalabhras, Pallavas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Later Pandyas, Delhi Sultanate, Madurai Sultanate, Vijayanagar Empire, Thanjavur Nayaks, Thanjavur Marathas, and British Raj, right from the year1509. Chinnanalla Udayar, was the last Zamindar, who ruled till 1956. Even now their successors are found in the town. Inside the Palace, there is an official hall with centre stage used for conducting functions. I was getting an opprtunity to meet one among the successors who is living in the palace still now!..but most of the buildings are getting deteriorated

Very nice place to visit Historic place. Palace ruined conditions. if government renovate it will be big tourism part in Ariyalur Dt.
