Sitanadi Wildlife sanctuary Situated in Dhamtari - Distric of Chhattisgarh state, It covers Almost 559 square KM of area (which makes it 2nd largest wildlife sanctuary in the state after Tamorpingla WS ) . Also oldest WS of chhattisgarh ( established in 1974 ). Nagri is closest city to this Sanctury . Nagari sihawa, mainpur , gariyaband are the prime cities in periphery of this Sanctury . In year 2009 sitanadi wildlife sanctuary Gone under project tiger ......... ministry of Forest Enviorment & climate change notified SitaNadiUdanti wildlife sanctuary as Tiger reserve. Total area - 1842 square KM . In past couple of years this Sanctury has witnessed some extinct Wildlife such as Mouse Deeer, Black Leopard . According to Tiger census of 2004 presence of 5 tigers was Detected. At present it is quite rare to see a tiger here ........ Last time when a tiger presence was reported (in year 2017) , then that story was posted on Sanctury Asia's twitter handle . In 2018, a tiger living in the reserve fell prey . Recently when the tiger Census of 2018 published it is found that Chhattisgarh is the only major state who Witnessed decline in tiger population. This plight has been caused by careless and corrupt officials...... Especially SitaNadiUdanti Tiger reserve Managment who is so reckless . Despite all the favorable conditions (the best in central India), Currently the number is fallen to 1 or 2 tiger . Update - 1. During January 2021 one male tiger from NAGZIRA Tiger Reserve ( Bhandara MH ) set his foot in sancutary . He was spotted near Dugli range , most of us thought that it is watershed moment for revival of tiger population in TR . But after that report no one knows what happened to tiger . 2. In December 2021 Dainik Bhaskar published a story claiming that " Nagzira guy " is roaming arround kulhadi ghati range with one tigeress and two cubs . Arrival of Giants - In march 2020 a herd of elephants (chanda dal ) entered in Sanctuary from odisha border , it was unprecedented moment for everyone including forest department as this mammoth species was new to this southern chhattisgarh landscape . Since than sitanadi has become an important elephant corridor . Poaching and wildlife trafficking :- I have read somewhere that sitanadi has largest number of leopard in state and it seems true as well , at least large scale of poaching accident trafficking report's suggest so . As many as 50 such cases were reported in dhamtari division in past 5 years ( most in the state) . Here i want to make it clear that i am not offering any random number , anyone who doubts can cross check on internet . Leopard attacks and minors Killing - This incidents are worth mentioning to enlight the readers about abundance of leopards here , leopard have killed 4 children in the region since may 2021. In general - Mahandi which is Longest river of Chhattisgarh as well as odissa Orignated From Shihawa parvat ( suktimtii prvt) of this Sanctury . This area is part of dnnddkaarnny of Mythological tales .Chhattisgarh Goverment is devloping This region under " raam vngmn maarg corridor project " .

Very dense, intense and beautiful place. The forest are natural and untouched which gives a unique experience. The place is however backward and government is not taking enough steps to upgrade.
