I had Jadoh and a dish called doh sniang nei long ( pork dish with sesame seeds or something ) . Simply loved it. I only liked one chutney among three. But Jadoh was too good. There was a pork meatball and two pork items. Loved it. Highly recommended if you're a pork lover. Chicken items are also available. Try it out if you're in Shillong. The price was 250 but it was worth it.
One of the famous restaurants of shillong. Famous for local khasi cuisine. Honestly speaking I don't like the taste but everybody must try once. We tried jadoh and dosiar.
We went to Meghalaya as tourists and wanted to try the traditional foods there. So we visited Trattoria. The place is cozy and it was old school like atmosphere . They had the options of veg, fish, chicken, mutton, pork jadoh and as side dishes. We asked them to provide their best items as we tried to taste it and it was really delicious. We took chicken, mutton, pork and fish. The fish was like light stew/curry type. The mutton and pork was so delicious We, total 6 people enjoyed the food. Additionally we took mutton and pork meatballs.
Situated on the right side when you enter Police Bazaar. The area of the restaurant is small but the food is great and fulfilling. The restaurant opens around 1pm, so it's good place for lunch if you're in PB.
If you're in Shillong then this place is a must try! Especially the Pork Thali.
Nice simple place for great Khasi food. Staff is super friendly and food tasty and authentic.
The chutney is amazing, really liked the dry fish chutney. And jadoh is fine.
If you're not having Jadoh in Trattoria in Police Bazar, what are you even doing there?
One of the best Jadoh places you can find easily. It's in the Police Bazar, just near the junction. It's kind of a small place, and opens a little later in the day (after 12:30pm if I remember correctly), so look carefully so that you don't miss it.
You'll get traditional pork Jadoh and different thalis. We had Jadoh and Chicken thali, both were really good. Unless there's other reasons, I'd recommend sticking to the classic only.
Just remember it's not a fine dining place, where you share a table and bench with others, so go with that expectation. Also it gets pretty crowded as soon as it opens, so maybe go even before they open.
First the service will win you over and then the lip-smacking food. The Khasi Pork Thali is a MUST TRY! I've never eaten better pork, ever. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. They explain what's on your plate. I strongly recommend getting there by 6 PM as most items disappear by 6:30-7:00. We reached at around 7 and Jadoh Rice and some items were finished. But whatever our super polite waiter brought us was just so amazing that we didn't even look up while eating.
During peak season, reach as early as you can. Also, you have to try to the pork balls and liver, mind blowing stuff.
It's a small space so you might have to wait a while depending upon when you get there.
Overall I'd just say YOU CANNOT MISS THIS PLACE when in Shillong.
