The Gumbaz at Srirangapattana is a Muslim mausoleum at the centre of a landscaped garden, holding the graves of Tippu Sultan (Western Side), his father Hyder Ali (Middle) and his mother Fakhr-Un-Nisa (Eastern Side).
Tipu Sultan (Sultan Fateh Ali Sahab Tipu; 1 December 1751 - 4 May 1799), commonly referred to as the Tiger of Mysore, was the Indian Muslim ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore based in South India. He was a pioneer of rocket artillery.
Tipu Sultan, who ruled the region for 17 years, with the town as his capital, has developed some Hindu temples by offering valuables and by providing financial assistance. He had donated four silver bowls to Sri Ranganathaswamy temple here, which are still being used for daily puja rituals.
Masjid-i-Ala (also called Jama Masjid) is a mosque located inside the Srirangapatna Fort in Srirangapatna in Mandya District in Karnataka. It was built in 1786-87, during the rule of Tipu Sultan.
The Gumbaz was raised by Tipu Sultan in 1782-84 at Srirangapattana to serve as a mausoleum for his father and mother.[3] The mausoleum was surrounded by a cypress garden which is said to have different species of flowering trees and plants collected by Tippu Sultan from Persia, Ottoman Turkey, Kabul and French Mauritius.[4]
The original carved doors of the mausoleum have been removed and are now displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The present doors made of ebony and decorated with ivory were gifted by Lord Dalhousie

For me, whenever I hear the name Mysore, the name of Tipu Sultan comes to mind. the tiger of Mysore,
I felt very good and relaxed coming here.
A very serene peaceful place.
Few localities have a picnic in the lawn with their extended family and packed food. They didn't litter the place. Hope every other person takes care to not litter the place.
The disappointment was, entry is free. However parking cost is exorbitantly high. Don't know who pockets this money.
This remind us the history of Tipu, who had sacrificed his life to protect India from Britishers.
This is the graveyard, here you will find the grave of Tipu, his father Hyder Ali, mother and many prominent personalities of that time.
They have well maintain the area, outside you may find few street sellers and Horse Riding options.
